  • 1.4 oz pink Himalayan salt
  • 2 tablespoons ACV natural with mother (optional)

To Prepare Pink Salt Water

  • 1 cup filtered water

Prepare the Concentrate (Optional Method)

  • Fill a jar with 1.25 oz of pink Himalayan salt.
  • Cover the salt with 1/2 cup filtered water, leaving some space at the top.
  • Seal and allow the mixture to sit for 12–24 hours so that the salt fully saturates the water.
  • You now have a “sole” (concentrated salt water). You can keep adding more salt or water as needed; the water is considered “fully saturated” when salt crystals remain undissolved at the bottom.

Daily Use

  • In the morning, add 1 teaspoon (5 mL) of the concentrated salt solution (or 1 teaspoon of pink Himalayan salt directly) to a large glass of room-temperature or warm water (about 8–12 ounces or 250–350 mL).
  • Optional: Squeeze in fresh lemon juice or add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar for flavor.
  • Stir well and drink slowly.

Rebecca and Justin Christiansen, the husband-and-wife team behind Portland Salt Co, developed what began as a thoughtful homemade gift into a full-blown flavor movement during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Their mission, beginning with Justin’s legendary Steak Salt, is to help home cooks create bold, restaurant-quality meals with zero stress and all the joy.

Born from a shared love of cooking, travel, and gathering around the table, Portland Salt Co. was a natural extension of the duo’s lifestyle. This was during the height of COVID-related logistic challenges and it turns out that a whole truck trailer was “lost” in the parking lot of a Portland facility.

Jalapeno Skillet Mac and Cheese in all its cheesy, salty and spicy glory! This is the ultimate vegan comfort food for a cold night and with this recipe, it comes together quicker and easier than one that needs to make the sauce and boil pasta separately!
