ChatGPT hyped up violent stalker who believed he was β€œGod’s assassin,” DOJ says

4 December 2025 at 13:40

ChatGPT allegedly validated the worst impulses of a wannabe influencer accused of stalking more than 10 women at boutique gyms, where the chatbot supposedly claimed he’d meet the β€œwife type.”

In a press release on Tuesday, the Department of Justice confirmed that 31-year-old Brett Michael Dadig currently remains in custody after being charged with cyberstalking, interstate stalking, and making interstate threats. He now faces a maximum sentence of up to 70 years in prison that could be coupled with β€œa fine of up to $3.5 million,” the DOJ said.

The podcasterβ€”who primarily posted about β€œhis desire to find a wife and his interactions with women”—allegedly harassed and sometimes even doxxed his victims through his videos on platforms including Instagram, Spotify, and TikTok. Over time, his videos and podcasts documented his intense desire to start a family, which was frustrated by his β€œanger towards women,” whom he claimed were β€œall the same from fucking 18 to fucking 40 to fucking 90” and β€œtrash.”

Faced with naked man, DoorDasher demands police action; they arrest her for illegal surveillance

18 November 2025 at 17:27

Last month, a DoorDash driver in upstate New York delivered an item to a local house in Oswegoβ€”only to find the front door open and a man apparently unconscious or asleep on a couch in the front room. The man was also quite naked, with pants and underwear around his ankles, and he was fully visible from the porch.

The DoorDasher was a 23-year-old woman named Olivia Henderson, and she felt like the whole situation was some kind of creepy exploitation play. Was this guy purposely exposing himself to her? Was he even asleep? Should she have to endure the sight of random male genitalia just to make a few bucks?

She did not think so, and she decided to do something about it. Henderson filmed the man from outside the home, and she later posted the video on TikTok to shame him. Naturally, it went viral.

Meta wins monopoly trial, convinces judge that social networking is dead

18 November 2025 at 16:47

After years of pushback from the Federal Trade Commission over Meta’s acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp, Meta has defeated the FTC’s monopoly claims.

In a Tuesday ruling, US District Judge James Boasberg said the FTC failed to show that Meta has a monopoly in a market dubbed β€œpersonal social networking.” In that narrowly defined market, the FTC unsuccessfully argued, Meta supposedly faces only two rivals, Snapchat and MeWe, which struggle to compete due to its alleged monopoly.

But the days of grouping apps into β€œseparate markets of social networking and social media” are over, Boasberg wrote. He cited the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, who β€œposited that no man can ever step into the same river twice,” while telling the FTC they missed their chance to block Meta’s purchase.

Why large U.S. universities are blocking TikTok right now

By: slandau
30 January 2023 at 13:04

In this edited interview excerpt from a Bloomberg Technology report, Check Point Security Evangelist Micki Boland discusses a new U.S.-based ban on TikTok, shares security insider insights, and provides actionable data privacy tips.

As you know, select Texas universities have moved to block access to TikTok through campus wi-fi. What we’re hearing from users is that they don’t understand the risk. Is there a risk?

First, I want to say thank you so much for having me. At Check Point, we believe that everyone deserves the best cyber security. I would say that for end-users who are unsuspecting, and who really don’t understand the risk – yes, there is risk.

This is why we’re seeing organizations come together – agencies, enterprise, non-profits – who are actually doing a joint responsibility for risk. So we need to approach risk in such a way as to acknowledge both privacy and security.

We have privacy for data; for protected data, for end-user endpoints. Also for corporate assets. We have to protect our networks. People are riding our networks in order to get to these applications and our networks are vulnerable to attack by malicious actors and the threat of malware.

And then we have corporate assets and university assets, in this case, to protect. So it is a joint responsibility and we do need to help students understand the risks and to educate everyone.

In going back-to-basics, the argument is that ultimately, personnel in mainland China, might be able to access the personal data of TikTok users in the United States. The proposed solution for TikTok is to house the data of U.S. users on Oracle servers based in the U.S. Is that an acceptable mitigation of risk, in your opinion?

I hate to speculate about that, but I will tell you that our Check Point research division has looked into that. In 2020, we were curious about whether or not TikTok was delivering consistent privacy and security. And we did find several vulnerabilities.

We actually found a way to kind of circumvent registration using a mobile device, enabling us to use SMS spoofing for registration, there were API vulnerabilities…What I’m saying is that we need to demand that organizations offering social media applications uphold a consistent security and privacy policy that we can actually address.

Compare TikTok to other virally growing social media companies of olde – How many vulnerabilities does it have vis-Γ -vis competitors?

Across the board, I’d refer to our research team for that. To their credit, TikTok did actually fix the vulnerabilities that the Check Point Research team presented to them. In 2021, we worked together, and Check Point helped TikTok pen test those vulnerabilities.

I think that from the standpoint of examining the attack surface, these applications are going viral. I think, TikTok now has over a billion installs or downloads. In the U.S., there are now over a hundred million active users.

So, I think that we have to think that these social media platforms are going to be a huge, attractive attack surface for malicious actors.

We also have to take responsibility for our own personal data…

Yes, Micki, talk to us about that. If I can’t leave it up to TikTok, what do I do in order to protect myself?

If you go to an app store, and download social media applications, go read the details. What is their security policy? What is their privacy policy? What kind of data are they collecting on you? What kind of permissions are you granting to this application when you install it?

If you’re giving the application access to your camera, your microphone, your location, your calendar, and all of your contacts, this is probably too much information to share.

Then, you also have to read the fine print. What are they saying that they’re doing with the analytics being collected from you. And then, who do you trust? Ultimately, you have to have a certain level of trust in the application.

Any software can be exploited. It’s never going to be perfect.

Grilled Grinder Sandwich

Description

Grilled Grinder Sandwich with a Cabbage Grinder Slaw

Ingredients

  • 2 pork tenderloins
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Killer Hogs AP Seasoning
  • 2 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 4 Tablespoons Garlic Butter
  • 6–8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 tomato thinly sliced

Grinder Slaw Recipe

  • 1 10-12oz bag shredded cabbage
  • 1 small red onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 Tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon sub oil
  • 2 teaspoons Killer Hogs AP Seasoning (you can sub salt, pepper and garlic to taste)

Instructions

  1. Combine the shredded Cole slaw, red onion, pepperoncini, Mayo, red wine vinegar, & sub oil in a bowl. Season with AP seasoning and place in refrigerator for at least an hour.
  2. Trim any fat or sinew from pork tenderloins and pat dry with paper towel. Combine AP seasoning and Italian seasoning in a dredge shaker and generously coat each tenderloin
  3. Prepare charcoal grill for 2 zone grilling – hot and cool side.
  4. Place each tenderloin on the cooking grate over the hot side of the grill. Cook for 1 minute each side then turn until all 4 sides have some color.
  5. Move the tenderloins to the cool side and continue to cook until internal temperature reaches 135-140 degrees. Total cook time is about 15 minutes.
  6. Remove the tenderloin from the grill and loosely cover with foil. Rest at room temperature for 10 minutes.
  7. Split the French bread in half lengthwise and spread garlic butter on each side. Toast the bread lightly in the oven on broil or on the grill.
  8. Slice the pork tenderloin into thin medallions. To build the grinder sandwich: place a couple slices of provolone on the bread followed by thin slices of the pork. Top with more cheese and place back in the oven or on the grill just long enough to melt the cheese. Top with the grinder slaw and slices of tomato along with the top half of French bread.
