Bread Omelette is basically toasted bread covered with a simple spiced egg mix, and the flavors come together nicely when it gets toasted until golden on both sides. This dish has soft eggs and slightly crisp bread, so the texture itself feels satisfying. The spices are mild making it an ideal breakfast recipe. Bread and eggs are a winning combo and this one is no exception.

Bread Omelette is one of those easy breakfast dishes I end up making when I want something filling but really don't have much time to think what to cook. I mostly make this for a quick breakfast or even sometimes for evening snack, especially when someone wants something warm and tasty immediately.

About Bread Omelette

Bread Omelette is one of the oldest street-style snacks you will find in many places, and each shop has its own variations. The base idea is simple where eggs are beaten with onions, green chilies and spices, bread slices are dipped into this and cooked together. The bread absorbs the egg mixture and you get a soft inside and light toasted outside.

Bread Omelette always reminds me of train journeys as I love bread omlette served in the Indian Railways and should admit I look forward to day train journeys just for the sake of this dish. I make it when hungry in between meals or when we want a quick breakfast. It always turns out quite satisfying.

The taste also depends on how you like your omelette to be. Some people add more onion to make it bit crunchy, some keep it plain with only spices. The heat from pepper and chili gives a nice lift and the coriander leaves adds that fresh touch.

There are many ways people make this. You can toast the bread first and then sandwich the omelette, add little cheese on top, or even mix small pieces of capsicum or tomato into the egg. You can also make a bigger one by joining few bread slices like they do in shops. Each version has its own nice taste.

Bread Omelette Ingredients

  • Bread slices - I used white bread, you can use wheat bread or milk bread also, both works almost the same.
  • Eggs - I added two eggs as it gives enough mixture to cover the bread properly and keeps the omelette soft and fluffy. You can add one more egg if you feel it is coming bit thin.
  • Red chilli powder - I am using this for giving small spicy taste and little color. You can adjust it how much heat you want.
  • Garam masala - I added a pinch mainly for flavor, it blends well with onion and egg. You can skip also if you like very simple taste.
  • Turmeric powder - I used just a tiny pinch, it gives warm color and light earthy taste, and the omelette looks more bright too.
  • Pepper powder - I added this for heat which suits egg recipes very well. If you like pepper flavor more, you can add a bit extra also.
  • Onion - I used finely chopped onion as it gives small crunch and mild sweetness once cooked.
  • Green chilli - I added one green chilli for extra heat. You can skip if making for kids or if you don't want too much spice.
  • Coriander leaves - I have used little chopped coriander for fresh smell and flavor. It makes the omelette feel more light.
  • Oil - I used to cook the omelette and toast the bread even. You can use ghee also if you want richer taste.

  • Cook on medium flame - I have seen cooking on medium flame makes the omelette cook properly without burning the bread edges.
  • Flip slowly -Flip the omelette gently because the egg mixture will be soft at first and may tear if done fast.
  • Add extra pepper - I have tried adding little more pepper sometimes, and it gives a strong nice flavor which suits bread omelette well.
  • Cheese option - I sometimes place a small cheese slice on top, and it melts inside making the whole omelette more filling and tasty.

Serving and Storage

Serve this hot with chopped onions, coriander leaves or even little ketchup if you prefer. It goes well with tea or even as a quick meal by itself. This recipe tastes best served immediately. I don't recommend storing leftovers.

Koozh Vadam is a crunchy and tasty South Indian style fryums made with rice batter. It is sun dried and stored, then fried whenever needed. It is a popular traditional side dish that is usually had along with sambar, rasam or even curd rice. Kids love it as a snack too because it is so light and crispy.

The recipe is made by cooking rice batter along with sago and spices, spreading thin on cloth or plastic sheet, drying under hot sun for few days and then deep frying. The result is a crisp and airy vadam that almost melts in mouth. It is very simple once you get the method right, and storing them makes it easy to serve anytime with meals.

About Koozh Vadam

Koozh Vadam is one of the oldest style vadams prepared in South Indian homes during summer time. Families make them in big batches and store for months to use as a side dish. The main base is rice and sago which makes the texture light and crunchy after frying. The taste is very mild with little spice from green chillies and nice aroma from jeera.

Traditionally these vadams are dried under the scorching summer sun which makes them perfect crispy. If the drying is not done properly then the vadams turn chewy instead of crunchy. That is why many households prepare it in peak summer days. The batter thickens on cooling, so timing and stirring also matters to get good shaped vadams.

The texture is very light and crisp, it does not feel oily when fried properly. Jeera gives the typical flavor and the rice base makes it puff up nicely in oil. Kids usually enjoy munching them as snack, while for elders it is more of a side dish with meals. It is also a nice option on days when there is less vegetables at home.

I tried making these in small batch as it was my first attempt, and it came out quite good. It dried in two days because the sun was strong, and the vadams fried really well. It is quite satisfying to make homemade vadams and stock them in airtight jar for later use.

Koozh Vadam Ingredients

  • Raw rice - I have used regular raw rice, soak and grind to make the base batter. It gives the body and crispness for the vadam. You can use any raw rice you have.
  • Sago - Adding sago makes the vadam extra light and gives small bubble like texture. You can use nylon sago or regular, both works.
  • Water - Water is used to cook the rice batter and bring it to right consistency. You can adjust a little depending on rice type.
  • Green chillies - Ground green chillies gives the mild spice kick in the vadam. You can reduce or increase as per your liking.
  • Jeera - Jeera adds nice aroma and tiny bites when you eat fried vadam, also helps in digestion.
  • Roasted jeera powder - This gives extra flavor and makes the vadam more aromatic. If not available you can skip.

1.Measure the ingredients and keep it ready. Soak it at least for 4 hours. Mix both and rinse it well and drain water. Add it to mixer along with green chili.

6.Do this till the entire mixture finishes. Press it horizontally, don't worry if it doesn't come as continuous lines, anyways we are going to break it later. Dry it in hot sun till there is no moisture. When it starts to turn crisp at the edges start peeling and turn to other side. Once the other side is also dried, transfer to a wide tray and let it dry. Let it dry like this in daylight at least for 3 days. I dried it for 3 days.

7.Then  store in a clean container and use it as and when needed. Heat oil in a kadai. Heat oil in a kadai. Fry till it puffs up completely and is slightly golden in color.

Serve it with any variety rice of your choice or have it as such

Expert Tips

  • Cooking batter - Keep the flame low when cooking rice batter, keep stirring else lumps will form. I usually stand near and keep mixing.
  • Drying - Sun drying is very important, I have dried for 2 full days and it turned crispy. If the sun is less, dry for more days.
  • Testing - Always test fry 1 vadam before storing. If it is chewy, it means not dried enough. Keep it back for more drying.
  • Oil heat - Oil should be really hot. I drop one vadam to test, if it raises immediately then the oil is ready.
  • Storing - Store in clean airtight jar after vadams are fully dry and fried ones are cooled. This keeps them fresh longer.

Serving and Storage

Serve Koozh Vadam with curd rice, sambar rice or rasam rice. It also goes well as crunchy snack with tea time. Store the sun dried vadams in airtight jar and fry whenever needed. Once fried, you can keep in box and finish same day for best crisp taste.

Yes, you can skip sago but the texture will be little dense compared to the light version.

It depends on sunlight, usually 2-3 days in strong sun is enough.

Romance is a Bonus Book

I believe there’s a right time to read a book and until the time has arrived, you will either not enjoy reading the book or will set it aside for later. I’ve noticed the same is applicable to movies and series. There have been times I’ve started a series and stopped it after an episode or two because it didn’t appeal to me. Romance is a Bonus Book is one such drama. RIABB was recommended by the friend who introduced me to Korean dramas in 2019. Back then, I’d given up on the series after episode 4/5, for reasons I don’t really remember. But my 2022 viewing of RIABB has been a smooth sailing. Here’s the good and the bad of this series…

The plot of Romance is a Bonus Book

Kang Dan-i (Lee Na-young), a 37-year-old is scrambling to upgrade her life. The former advertising copywriter has separated from her husband who cheated on her and is now an unemployed single mother. Adding to the struggle of finding suitable employment after the long career gap is the fact that her house is being razed. So, to make ends meet, she is working as a housekeeper… at her best friend Cha Eun-ho’s (Lee Jong-suk) home and he doesn’t know it!

Eun-ho, 32, is a successful author, chief editor and one of the founding members of Gyeoroo publishing. He has been in love with Dan-i since he was a teenager but obviously, the latter is clueless. In the present (of the show) Eun-ho is unaware about Dan-i’s struggles. Eventually, Dan-i finds a job at Eun-ho’s publishing house, the latter finds out about her state of affairs and drags her to live with him until she finds her footing.

The story progresses in tandem with Dan-i’s professional and personal growth. She impresses her colleagues with her hard work and creative flair, makes new chingus and love comes knocking. Of course, the journey isn’t smooth as the duo navigate through personal and professional highs and lows but then, what’s a series without some drama, right? 

The Good…

A very generic and mundane description of this series would be that it is a mature friends-to-lovers romance, the story of a divorced woman fighting against the odds and winning. But just as life isn’t as simple, the series isn’t as generic.

Although branded a romantic comedy, Romance is a Bonus Book may not be a series that viewers in their 20s may relate with because honestly, most of the issues that the protagonist faces are the 30s problem – especially the ‘age discrimination’ and the various societal pressures that ‘aging’ women have to face. And when I say ‘age’ here, I mean women in their late 30s and 40s. It’s subtle but evident in the way Dan-i has to fudge her resume to land a menial job, the way she is berated for trying to take a job that ‘belongs’ to someone younger and her thoughts about exploring a romantic relationship with someone younger.

The highlight of this series is Lee Na-young and Lee Jong-suk’s acting. The former slays as Dan-i, effortlessly showing the character’s inner struggles and determination to survive, her presence of mind and her self-belief. She adds to the existing layers of the character and in doing so, she becomes a heroine viewers will relate to and empathise with – because trust me when I say, we’ve all been there at least once in life.

And please, I simple cannot not mention Lee Jong-suk. The man with the cute face can make your heart flutter and how! Jong-suk’s broad shoulders carry the role of Eun-ho with as much ease as they carry off those amazing long coats and sweaters (a little swoon here please). His admiration, love and support for his noona is evident in every single frame and is like that warm comforter that you want to snuggle into after a hard day. There are several emotional moments and the duo do a brilliant job with these without going overboard.

A key point of attraction here is the setting – Gyeoroo publishing. It makes me want to apply for a job there right away because that’s what a dream job would be, right? Your work is an extension of a genuine love, you get to live in the world of books day in and day out, your bestie works at the office and your love interest does too! And not to forget the colleagues that range from scary and tyrannical to weird and adorable. All the supporting characters – including the potential love interests Ji Seo-joon (Wi Ha-joon) and Song Hae-rin (Jung Yoo-jin) – are well etched, each with backstories that justify their behaviour and add to the storyline.

One of the best moments of the series are in the last episode, when a letter drawing comparison between life-relationships-books is read out. Its poignant, its heartwarming and the reason why the title of the series makes absolute sense.

… and The Bad

If you are the kind that needs drama and speed and a cliffhanging end to every episode then Romance Is A Bonus Book isn’t something you want to want. The series, albeit interesting, is a bit scattered and for non-Koreans, the references to books and authors can be a little confusing since we aren’t aware of them.

There is no shock value in the series, not even the unravelling of the mystery creates conflict. Moreover, with a lot of the information dropped in the first half of the series, the remaining episodes are more to tie up the knots and feel dragged out. I’d say chop off an episode and a half!

Its soothing, but sometimes, soothing can put you to sleep too.

A key point of attraction here is the setting – Gyeoroo publishing. It makes me want to apply for a job there right away because that’s what a dream job would be, right? Your work is an extension of a genuine love, you get to live in the world of books day in and day out, your bestie works at the office and your love interest does too! And not to forget the colleagues that range from scary and tyrannical to weird and adorable. All the supporting characters – including the potential love interests Ji Seo-joon (Wi Ha-joon) and Song Hae-rin (Jung Yoo-jin) – are well etched, each with backstories that justify their behaviour and add to the storyline.

One of the best moments of the series are in the last episode, when a letter drawing comparison between life-relationships-books is read out. Its poignant, its heartwarming and the reason why the title of the series makes absolute sense.

… and The Bad

If you are the kind that needs drama and speed and a cliffhanging end to every episode then Romance Is A Bonus Book isn’t something you want to want. The series, albeit interesting, is a bit scattered and for non-Koreans, the references to books and authors can be a little confusing since we aren’t aware of them.

There is no shock value in the series, not even the unravelling of the mystery creates conflict. Moreover, with a lot of the information dropped in the first half of the series, the remaining episodes are more to tie up the knots and feel dragged out. I’d say chop off an episode and a half!

Its soothing, but sometimes, soothing can put you to sleep too.

AMD’s Marketing Shows Its Older 6000 Series GPUs Offer the Most Value

AMD has published a new blog post attempting to convince people of its status as a GPU industry leader. Along the way, it seems to have inadvertently admitted its older GPUs are a better value than the newest models. It reminds us of the oft-used online phrase, “An attempt was made.”

The gist of the blog is boilerplate PR about how AMD Radeon GPUs are the best at every resolution and price point. It notably does not compare its GPUs against Intel or Nvidia with numbers. Anyway, with many AAA titles out currently and more on the way, AMD wants people looking to upgrade to buy an AMD GPU. To help convince them, it provides a handy chart showing the fps-to-dollar ratio for its entire 7000 and 6000 lineups across six games at 1080p: Apex Legends, Valorant, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, The Callisto Protocol, GTA V, and Overwatch 2.

All games were tested at “Max” settings, aside from the entry-level RX 6400, which ran these games at a “Medium” preset. It’s in this chart that it shows its 7900 GPUs offering the worst bang-for-the-buck value of its entire product stack.

If you just pay attention to the grey bars, you’ll note how they start out small at the top. They then proceed to get wider and wider, all the way to the bottom as it ticks through the 6000 series. This essentially shows that as you go down the product stack, fps-per-dollar only goes up. It means that every 6000 series GPU offers more fps-per-dollar than its most recent GPUs.

We’re not sure why AMD’s marketing team felt compelled to point this out. Perhaps it is just stating the obvious, that its newest GPUs have an early adopter tax built into their pricing. Maybe AMD is still happy to be selling RX 6000 series GPUs. We imagine Nvidia is in the same camp, as it needs to clear out its Ampere GPUs to pave the way for more Ada Lovelace purchases. Still, AMD seems to be faring well so far with its RDNA3 GPUs, vapor chamber issues aside.

As we reported previously, the RX 7900 XT is currently the top-selling GPU in Germany. You can insert a David Hasselhoff joke here, but the numbers show it’s been a success so far.

We reached out to AMD to help us understand why it’s pushing this angle, as it paints its older GPUs in a more favorable light than its newer models. We’ll update this article if and when we hear back.

What is Command Injection Attack?

It’s an attack in which the bad guys’ objective on this activity will be trying to obtain the execution of arbitrary commands on a vulnerable application. Normally, the vulnerability exposes when the application has sent unsafe user-supplied data to a system shell.

Normally, people will think that Code Injection and Command Injection but sadly it’s totally different where the Code Injection will allow the bad guys to usually add malicious code into the application and execute it remotely. However, the Command Injection will execute the command on the application with its functionality without they inject the code into the application itself.

How to the attack works?

Firstly, we can try to detect that the application that is vulnerable to the Command Injection would be looking at the URL Address. The possibility that the application is vulnerable would look something such as below:

http://example.com/index.php?pages=1

If the application has an upload function, we can try to upload a file that contains the following code

    {
        system($_GET['cmd']);
    }
?>

Then, we can execute the command by typing the URL such as http://example.com/index.php?cmd=”any command”

We need to modify the payload by adding the { } symbol while the rest remain the same.

Let’s change the 0.0.0.0 with the “id” command which you will obtain the output that we not expecting at all.
