$7 Trillion Player Is Moving Into Bitcoin, Can This Trigger A Surge To $200,000?

Swiss banking giant UBS, with assets under management (AuM) of up to $7 trillion, is set to launch Bitcoin trading for some of its clients. This comes amid predictions that regulatory clarity and broader adoption could send the BTC price to as high as $200,000.

UBS To Offer Bitcoin Trading To Some Wealth Clients

Bloomberg reported that UBS is planning to launch crypto trading for some of its wealth clients, starting with its private bank clients in Switzerland. The bank will reportedly begin by offering these clients the opportunity to invest in Bitcoin and Ethereum. At the same time, the crypto offering could further expand to clients in the Pacific-Asia region and the U.S.

The banking giant is currently in discussions with potential partners, and there is no clear timeline for when it could launch Bitcoin and Ethereum trading for clients. This move is said to be partly due to increased demand from wealth clients for crypto exposure. UBS also faces increased competition as other Wall Street giants are working to offer crypto trading.

Morgan Stanley, in partnership with Zerohash, announced plans to launch crypto trading in the first half of this year, starting with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. The banking giant may soon also be able to offer its crypto products, as it has filed with the SEC to launch spot BTC, ETH, and SOL ETFs.

Furthermore, JPMorgan, another of UBS’ competitors, is considering offering crypto trading to institutional clients, although this plan is still in the early stages. The bank already accepts Bitcoin and Ethereum as collateral from its clients. Last year, it also filed to offer BTC structured notes that will track the performance of the BlackRock Bitcoin ETF.

Can Bank’s Entry Trigger A BTC Rally To $200,000

Kevin O’Leary predicted that Bitcoin could rally to between $150,000 and $200,000 this year, driven by the passage of the CLARITY Act. His prediction came just as White House Crypto Czar David Sacks said banks would fully enter crypto once the bill passes. As such, there is a possibility that BTC could reach this $200,000 psychological level in anticipation of the amount of new capital that could flow into BTC from these banks once the bill passes.

BitMine’s Chairman, Tom Lee, also predicted during a CNBC interview that Bitcoin could reach between $200,000 and $250,000 this year, partly due to growing institutional adoption by Wall Street giants. Meanwhile, Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao said that a BTC rally to $200,000 is the “most obvious thing in the world” to him.

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is trading at around $89,600, up in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap.

Institutional-Scale Ethereum Lockup: Bitmine Crosses 1.94M ETH Staked Mark

Ethereum has slipped below the critical $3,000 level, adding fresh pressure to a market that is already showing clear signs of hesitation. After weeks of choppy price action, ETH is now entering a more fragile phase where failed recoveries are starting to shift sentiment. With sellers gaining control and bullish momentum fading, several analysts are warning that this breakdown could open the door for a deeper correction if demand does not return quickly.

The timing is important. Ethereum is moving through a pivotal zone where short-term price direction could shape the broader narrative for 2026. If ETH continues to trade below $3,000 and lower support levels fail to hold, the market may transition into a prolonged risk-off regime. On the other hand, a fast recovery back above this psychological threshold could signal that the breakdown was only a liquidity sweep, setting up a rebound toward higher resistance.

Despite a weakening price structure, on-chain activity suggests large players remain active. Market data shows that Bitmine staked another 171,264 ETH, worth roughly $503.2 million, just a few hours ago. The move adds to the firm’s growing exposure and reinforces the idea that institutional-scale actors are still positioning aggressively, even as Ethereum faces one of its most decisive moments of the year.

Bitmine’s ETH Staking Signals Long-Term Conviction Despite Short-Term Weakness

According to data from Arkham, Bitmine has now staked a total of 1,943,200 ETH, worth roughly $5.71 billion, marking one of the most aggressive Ethereum accumulation and yield-positioning moves currently visible on-chain.

Staking at this scale removes a significant amount of ETH from liquid circulation, effectively shifting supply away from exchanges and into long-term validator positions. In practical terms, it suggests Bitmine is not positioning for a short-term flip, but rather treating Ethereum as a strategic asset that can generate native yield while potentially appreciating over time.

This activity stands out because it is happening while Ethereum is under pressure after losing the $3,000 level. At the moment, the market is stuck in a fragile, risk-sensitive phase, where traders are reacting quickly to breakdowns and failed recoveries. Momentum has weakened, liquidity remains thin, and analysts are increasingly warning that a deeper correction could unfold if key supports continue to fail.

However, Bitmine’s staking expansion provides a counter-signal: large players appear willing to keep committing capital even as sentiment deteriorates. That divergence highlights the current split in the market—short-term participants are defensive, while longer-term allocators are still building exposure. If price stabilizes, this kind of staking-driven supply reduction can become a structural tailwind.

Ethereum Downtrend Pressure Builds

Ethereum is trading near $2,940 after losing the key $3,000 psychological level, putting the market back into a fragile position. The chart shows ETH has been trending lower since the October peak, with a clear sequence of lower highs and heavy sell-side volatility that accelerated into November. Although ETH managed to stabilize into a broad consolidation range between roughly $2,850 and $3,250, the most recent breakdown suggests buyers are struggling to defend support when momentum fades.

From a trend perspective, Ethereum remains capped beneath its major moving averages. Price is trading below the green long-term average and the blue mid-term average, both of which are sloping downward and acting as dynamic resistance.

The recent rebound attempt toward the $3,300–$3,400 zone failed right under the green line, reinforcing that sellers are still controlling rallies. Meanwhile, the red long-term average sits higher near the mid-$3,000s, highlighting that ETH remains far from reclaiming a macro bullish structure.

Volume has increased on the sharp red candles compared to the slower grind higher, which often signals distribution rather than healthy accumulation. If ETH cannot reclaim $3,000 quickly, downside risk opens toward the $2,850 range floor. A clean recovery back above $3,150–$3,250 would be needed to reduce bearish pressure and reset the near-term trend.

BitMine Gobbles Up $110M Ethereum in Massive Dip Buy — Is the “Alchemy of 5%” Imminent?

BitMine Immersion Technologies has once again pushed itself to the center of the crypto market after revealing a fresh wave of Ethereum accumulation that reflects how far the company has come in just six months.

The New York–listed firm disclosed on January 20 that it now holds 4,203,036 ETH, valued at roughly $13.5 billion at recent prices, following weeks of steady purchases made during market weakness.

BitMine provided its latest holdings update for January 20th, 2026:

$14.5 billion in total crypto + "moonshots":
– 4,203,036 ETH at $3,211 (@coinbase)
– 193 Bitcoin (BTC)
– $22 million stake in Eightco Holdings (NASDAQ: $ORBS) (“moonshots”) and
– total cash of $979…

— Bitmine (NYSE-BMNR) $ETH (@BitMNR) January 20, 2026

Ethereum has declined by 10.8% over the past seven days and is down 4.5% in the last 24 hours, currently trading at $2,966.44.

The update immediately reignited debate around BitMine’s stated goal of acquiring 5% of Ethereum’s total circulating supply, a target the company calls the “alchemy of 5%.”

Weekly ETH Buys Push BitMine Toward 5% Supply Mark

The numbers show how close BitMine already is; with Ethereum’s circulating supply estimated at about 120.7 million ETH, a 5% stake would amount to roughly 6.03 million ETH.

BitMine’s current holdings represent about 3.48% of supply, leaving the company needing approximately 1.8 million additional ETH to reach its stated threshold.

At prevailing prices near $3,000 per token, that remaining gap translates into several billion dollars of capital, even before accounting for market impact.

Company disclosures show that BitMine has been buying ETH nearly every week since late October, including more than 35,000 ETH in the week ending January 20.

These purchases have taken place alongside broader volatility in crypto markets, reinforcing the firm’s message that it is using price weakness to build a long-term position rather than trading short-term moves.

Chairman Tom Lee has repeatedly framed the strategy as accretive to net asset value, emphasizing that the company does not intend to issue shares below its internal estimate of mNAV.

That approach appears to have won shareholder backing, so that even at BitMine’s January 15 stockholder meeting in Las Vegas, investors approved all four proposals put forward by management.

— Cryptonews.com (@cryptonews) January 3, 2026

About 81% of votes cast supported the change, representing more than half of all outstanding shares.

Lee described the result as a clear show that shareholders understand and support the ETH accumulation strategy, even as concerns around dilution continue to surface in market discussions.

BitMine Ramps Up Ethereum Staking as Treasury Swells

Beyond simply holding Ether, BitMine is also moving aggressively to stake its position. As of January 19, the company had staked 1,838,003 ETH, worth close to $5.9 billion, up sharply from just over 650,000 ETH earlier this month.

The staking effort currently relies on third-party providers, but BitMine is preparing to launch its own infrastructure, the Made in America Validator Network, or MAVAN, in early 2026.

🚀 BitMine @BitMNR plans an early-2026 launch of its MAVAN validator network, aiming to turn a $12B Ether treasury into staking yield at scale.#BitMine #Staking https://t.co/YOlkeNouQu

— Cryptonews.com (@cryptonews) December 30, 2025

Using the current composite Ethereum staking rate of about 2.81%, the company estimates that a fully deployed staking operation could generate roughly $374 million in annual fees, or more than $1 million per day, assuming performance and network conditions remain stable.

The scale of BitMine’s balance sheet now places it in rare territory among public companies.

Its crypto, cash, and “moonshot” holdings total about $14.5 billion, including nearly $1 billion in cash, a smaller Bitcoin position of 193 BTC, and equity stakes such as a recently announced $200 million investment into Beast Industries.

While that investment is not directly tied to the Ethereum strategy, it reflects BitMine’s broader effort to diversify alongside its core crypto treasury.

Following the news, Bitmine stock is trading slightly above $28, far below its mid-2025 peak, yet it remains one of the most actively traded stocks in the United States, with average daily dollar volume around $1.5 billion.

BitMine’s Ethereum Holdings Near 3.5% Supply Milestone As ETH Falls Below $3,000

As the Ethereum (ETH) price retests a crucial support zone, BitMine revealed it has added another $110 million worth of ETH to its treasury holdings over the past week, approaching an important milestone for the company’s investment strategy.

BitMine’s Ethereum Bet Continues

On Tuesday, BitMine, a Bitcoin and Ethereum Network Company with a focus on accumulating crypto for long-term investment, announced its holdings had reached 4.2 million ETH tokens after acquiring 35,268 ETH, worth roughly $110 million, in the past week.

As a result, the company, which is the largest Ethereum Treasury company in the world and the second-largest global treasury, has crypto and cash holdings totaling $14.5 billion at current prices.

According to the announcement, the company now owns 4,203,036 ETH at $3,211, 193 Bitcoin (BTC), a $22 million stake in Eightco Holdings as part of its “Moonshots” initiative, and unencumbered cash worth $979 million.

After the latest purchase, BitMine now holds 3.48% of ETH’s total supply, and nears its goal to control 5% of the leading altcoin’s 120.7 million supply. Notably, it has achieved nearly 70% if “Alchemy of 5%” target in just six months.

BitMine’s chairman, Thomas “Tom” Lee, stated that “Ethereum’s price ratio to Bitcoin, or ETHBTC, has been steadily climbing since mid-October. In our view, this reflects investors recognizing tokenization and other use cases being developed by Wall Street are being built on Ethereum.”

As of January 19, 2026, BitMine’s total staked ETH stands at 1,838,003, worth $5.9 billion at $3,211 per ETH, an increase of 581,920 ETH in the past week.

ETH Price At Crucial Support Zone

Despite BitMine’s constant bet on the cryptocurrency, Ethereum retraced nearly all its 2026 gains after falling below the $3,000 barrier. On Tuesday, ETH recorded a 6.8% decline in the daily timeframe, dropping from the $3,200 area to a three-week low of $2,980.

The King of altcoins has been trading between the $2,600-$3,350 area since the November pullbacks, reclaiming the upper zone of this range during the start of the year rally. Now, ETH is retesting an important multi-support area that could define the cryptocurrency’s short-term performance.

Analyst World of Charts affirmed that there are two “simple” possibilities for Ethereum. If the price loses the $3,000 area, which serves as the mid-zone of its local range and a key macro support and resistance level, then a retest of the $2,600 lows becomes likely.

On the contrary, if the altcoin holds this zone in the daily timeframe and momentum builds, it could retest the range’s upper boundary resistance again.

Amid the pullback, another pseudonym market observer also pointed out that ETH is currently retesting its 50-day Moving Average (MA), which was reclaimed at the start of the year and currently sits at the $3,089 level.

According to the post, if the 50-day MA holds, a move to the 200-day MA, located around the $3,650 area, could come next. “All eyes [are] on a close above the 50-day MA, which will point to a successful back test,” he added.

As of this writing, ETH is trading at $2,999, a 7% decline in the weekly timeframe.

Ethereum Treasury Bitmine Makes $200M Bet On MrBeast’s Company

Ethereum treasury company Bitmine has announced a $200 million investment into Beast Industries, owned by popular creator MrBeast.

Bitmine Is Making An Investment In MrBeast-Owned Firm

As revealed in a press release, Bitmine Immersion Technologies is investing $200 million into Beast Industries in a deal that’s expected to close on or around January 19th.

Originally a cryptocurrency mining-focused company, Bitmine pivoted into being an Ethereum treasury company in mid-2025. Since then, the firm has aggressively accumulated ETH and established itself as the second largest digital asset treasury in the world behind Strategy.

Now, it seems Bitmine is looking to diversify with the Beast Industries move. Beast Industries is an entertainment company founded and led by Jimmy Donaldson, the personality behind MrBeast.

MrBeast is the most subscribed channel on YouTube with more than 460 million subscribers. “MrBeast and Beast Industries, in our view, is the leading content creator of our generation, with a reach and engagement unmatched with GenZ, GenAlpha and Millennials,” said Thomas ‘Tom’ Lee, Bitmine Chairman.

In December, Beast Industries revealed a new financial services platform. Now, with the Bitmine investment, Jeff Housenbold, Beast Industries CEO, has hinted at a collaboration with Bitmine for the platform.

Housenbold noted:

Their support is a strong validation of our vision, strategy, and growth trajectory and it provides additional capital to achieve our goal to become the most impactful entertainment brand in the world. We look forward to exploring ways to further collaborate and incorporate DeFi into our upcoming financial services platform.

Bitmine has set a long-term goal of acquiring 5% of the Ethereum supply for its treasury. According to a Monday press release, the company’s holdings have grown to around 4.17 million ETH, equivalent to 3.45% of the cryptocurrency’s total supply in circulation.

Thus, the firm is still some ways from its 5% target, but considering that it only started accumulating ETH half a year ago, its progress is significant. Bitmine’s momentum could, however, soon face a structural obstacle.

Bitmine currently has a 500 million share authorization and the company is looking to increase the cap via a shareholder vote. “Bitmine charter has an unusual feature requiring 50.1% of all shares outstanding to support a share increase,” said Lee. “This is an extremely high bar and thus, makes it very difficult to get an authorized share increase.”

The proposal will be discussed at the firm’s annual stock meeting, scheduled for January 15th, with the remaining votes tied to in-person participation after remote voting channels were closed earlier this week.

Ethereum Price

Ethereum has witnessed a notable jump over the last week as its price has surged nearly 7% to the $3,300 level.

Ethereum Price Chart

Bitmine Deepens Ethereum Bet With $514M ETH Staking Move – Staking Exposure Reaches $5.6B

Ethereum has reclaimed the $3,300 level after weeks of choppy and uncertain price action, offering bulls a brief sense of relief. However, upside momentum remains fragile, as buyers continue to struggle against the $3,400 zone, a level that has repeatedly capped recent advances. This area now stands as a clear short-term inflection point, separating a potential recovery phase from what some analysts still describe as a broader bearish structure.

Market participants remain divided. On one side, skeptics argue that the latest rebound resembles a classic relief rally, driven by short covering and temporary sentiment improvement rather than a genuine shift in trend.

From this perspective, Ethereum may still be vulnerable to renewed downside if macro conditions tighten or risk appetite fades. On the other side, more constructive analysts believe the stabilization above $3,300 could mark the early stages of a recovery, with higher levels coming into focus if resistance is convincingly reclaimed.

Adding complexity to the narrative, on-chain developments continue to draw attention. Just a few hours ago, Bitmine staked an additional 154,304 ETH, worth roughly $514 million, signaling sustained confidence from large players despite market uncertainty. As price compresses below resistance, Ethereum now sits at a critical juncture where conviction from both bulls and bears is being tested.

Bitmine’s Growing Staking Footprint Signals Long-Term Conviction

According to data reported by Lookonchain, Bitmine’s Ethereum exposure has reached a notable scale. In total, the firm has now staked approximately 1,685,088 ETH, valued at around $5.62 billion at current prices. This places Bitmine among the largest single staking participants in the Ethereum ecosystem, underscoring the growing role of institutional and quasi-institutional actors in securing the network.

What makes this positioning particularly relevant is Bitmine’s overall balance. The company reportedly holds about 2.133 million ETH in total, meaning that close to 80% of its Ether reserves are actively staked rather than sitting idle. This allocation suggests a long-term, yield-oriented strategy rather than a short-term trading approach. By committing such a large portion of its holdings to staking, Bitmine is effectively signaling confidence in Ethereum’s medium- to long-term outlook, despite ongoing price volatility and macro uncertainty.

From a market perspective, large-scale staking reduces the amount of ETH that is readily liquid and available for sale. While this does not eliminate selling pressure entirely, it can contribute to a tighter circulating supply during periods of demand recovery.

At the same time, concentrated staking activity highlights how network security and yield generation are increasingly influenced by large holders. As Ethereum trades near key resistance levels, Bitmine’s positioning reinforces the narrative that some major players remain structurally committed, even as short-term price direction remains contested.

Ethereum Tests Key Weekly Resistance

Ethereum’s price action on the weekly chart shows a market attempting to stabilize after a volatile multi-year cycle. ETH has reclaimed the $3,300 area and is now trading just below a clearly defined resistance zone near $3,400. This level has repeatedly capped upside during prior rallies, making it a critical area for bulls to reclaim with conviction.

ETH consolidates around critical liquidity level | Source: ETHUSDT chart on TradingView

From a trend perspective, Ethereum remains above its long-term moving averages, including the 200-week line, which continues to slope upward. This suggests that despite recent drawdowns, the broader structural uptrend has not been invalidated. However, price is still trading below the previous cycle highs near $4,200–$4,400, highlighting that ETH is in a recovery phase rather than a confirmed breakout.

Momentum has improved compared to late 2025, with higher lows forming after the sharp sell-off toward the $1,600–$1,800 region. Volume during the rebound has been moderate, signaling participation without clear signs of speculative excess. This supports the idea of controlled accumulation rather than euphoric chasing.

Still, the inability to cleanly break above $3,400 keeps downside risk relevant. A rejection here could lead to renewed consolidation toward the $2,800–$3,000 zone. For bullish continuation, ETH needs a sustained weekly close above resistance, which would shift market structure and open the path toward higher liquidity zones above $3,800.

Bitmine’s Billion-Dollar Ethereum Bet Takes Flight, Here’s How The Company Is Moving Up

Bitmine Immersion Technologies has been making a statement with its assertive accumulation and staking of Ethereum. In just a few months, the company has assembled one of the largest known ETH treasuries held by a publicly traded firm, moving steadily toward its stated ambitious goal of controlling 5% of the total Ethereum supply.

According to a recent disclosure, Bitmine is now holding about 4.17 million Ethereum (ETH) tokens, which is about 3.45% of the total circulating supply. Furthermore, the company’s total staked ETH tally has now surpassed 1.2 million tokens.

Heavy Stakes And A Clear Target

Bitmine is now the largest fresh money buyer of ETH in the world, and its string of ETH purchases has kept many Ethereum investors on the edge of their seats on how this might affect the price of the altcoin.

Bitmine Immersion has funneled about $3.9 billion worth of Ethereum into staking under the leadership of Tom Lee, a move that shows conviction in ETH’s long-term prospects and the company’s desire to generate yield for its investors. Notably, the company’s total staked ETH tally has now surpassed 1.2 million tokens, bringing it close to 70 percent of the way toward its self-proclaimed “Alchemy of 5%” target of owning 5% of all Ethereum in circulation.

Bitmine’s approach to staking is starting to be much more than passive yield. The company is preparing to launch its own Made in America Validator Network (MAVAN), which it says will be among the largest ETH staking infrastructures in the ecosystem once live.

This means Bitmine is now looking to transition from simply holding and staking Ether through third parties to becoming a staking infrastructure provider. If all of Bitmine’s staked ETH were managed through MAVAN and its partners at current rates, Ethereum staking fees could generate about $370 million for the company.

Growing The Balance Sheet To Sustain Ethereum Accumulation

Bitmine’s balance sheet extends well past its staking operations. The company now holds a diversified pool of assets spanning Bitcoin, Ethereum, other digital assets, and cash, with total holdings valued at around $14 billion, including its just over 4 million ETH.

Interestingly, the company has continued to add to its holdings in recent weeks, even as it increases its liquid cash position. The most recent purchase was of 24,266 ETH last week.

At the same time, the company made a corporate decision that it says is critical to sustaining this strategy of steadily accumulating more Ethereum tokens. Notably, Bitmine is now seeking a positive 50.1% shareholder vote to increase its authorized share count at its upcoming annual stockholder meeting scheduled for January 15, 2026.

According to the company, the current authorization of 500 million shares is close to being fully utilized, and once that limitation is reached, its ability to continue acquiring Ethereum at the current pace would slow down massively.
