Storz & Bickel Celebrates 25 Years With Launch of New VEAZY Vape

In the world of cannabis technology, few brands carry the legacy and trust of Storz & Bickel. For over two decades, their iconic Volcano vaporizer has set the standard for quality and performance, earning a reputation as the gold standard for both cannabis medical patients and connoisseurs alike. While the brand’s legacy is built on its classic devices, Storz & Bickel continues to innovate. Today, the brand is launching the new VEAZY, a true game-changer for the personal dry herb vape market.

The new Storz & Bickel VEAZY Vaporizer delivers consistent, flavorful vapor in just 40 seconds using the company’s patented hybrid heating technology. It’s also the brand’s smallest and most affordable device, priced at just $249 and weighing 0.3 lbs. Users can fine-tune settings and easily personalize sessions from their phone or laptop via Bluetooth to the S&B web app.  Plus, the quick USB-C charging system means you can easily recharge the device when you’re on the move. The VEAZY is the perfect blend of style and substance: It fits nicely in the palm of your hand but still packs a punch with S&B’s patented mini hybrid heater blending conduction and convection.

Cannabis Now Founder Eugenio Garcia sat down with Jürgen Bickel, co-founder and managing director of Storz & Bickel, to discuss the brand’s 25-year journey from a small German workshop to a global industry leader. In this conversation, Jürgen shares the company’s foundational principles, his new role as a public-facing advocate for the brand, and an exciting first look at the VEAZY, the company’s latest device set to redefine accessibility in the space.

The new VEAZY is the latest innovation from S&B and is designed to appeal to a broader audience with its compact design, affordable price point, and range of fun colors.

Eugenio Garcia: Jürgen, welcome. Thank you for being here with me. Storz & Bickel is one of the few brands with a true legacy. In my opinion, cannabis is still a new industry, but we’ve been at it for over a decade now in its modern sense. However, your brand has a rich history, and I’d love to learn a little more about the company’s beginnings and how it got started.

Jürgen Bickel: Of course. This was 25 years ago, or even a little bit before. The starting point was my partner, or ex-partner, Markus Storz. He started to develop the Volcano. I met him from time to time during this process, and I also tested a few things with him. But at that time, I was still living in South America and was not too close to it. In November 2000, he brought out the first series of the Volcano. I was one of his first clients. I bought a Volcano for myself. I quit smoking tobacco at that time, and I brought it with me to Peru.

A year later, I came back to Germany. My time in South America was over, and Markus needed help, so I helped him out because I knew the device. We attended trade shows together, and then we decided to co-found Storz & Bickel. We were just the two of us then, and then the journey started. 25 years later, we have about 150 employees here and have had a great time and a great experience.

EG: Twenty-five years ago, how did you develop the technology for the Volcano? How has it transitioned over 25 years, given that you must have over 20 or 30 products now?

JB: It started with a heat gun. It became clear at the time that you don’t have to burn the flower to consume it. At that time, it wasn’t immediately apparent to everyone that THCA needed to be decarboxylated; all we knew was that it worked. We found out that you need a minimum of 180 degrees Celsius to release the THC, and you need less than 230 degrees Celsius because above that, it also burns. This is your window and to stay in that window, you must have exact temperature control. This is how it started.

EG: The balloon is such a signature part of the Volcano experience. What was the rationale behind that design choice, and what benefits does it offer the user that other methods don’t?

JB: To this day, people still ask, “What is it, a balloon or a bag?” But it’s just a way to hold the vapor you have already produced so you only need to inhale. You can almost not do anything wrong once you have the bag in your hand. It’s very easy, and it’s also a resistance-free inhalation. All this made it very special from the very beginning.

EG: There’s a huge medical benefit to these devices. How do you think about it from a medical point of view, as far as the technology and your presentation of the products?

JB: We’re located in Tuttlingen, Germany, which calls itself the world center of medical devices.. So, from the very beginning, it was clear that we wanted to have a medical device like everybody else in this town. Another point for us from the very beginning was that somebody who is slightly disabled needs to be able to use it. It was also important that a patient could use it and that you could replicate the dosage. One balloon always has the same amount. You have local mobility; you don’t have to touch electricity or heat or glass. You can bring it to a patient in a bed. All of this was thought into the design from the very beginning, and it worked very well.

It’s not only the medical device status we like. We also certify our household devices that are not medical devices. We certify them with a UL norm. The UL 8139 is the vaporizing norm. We send 100 devices to a lab where somebody else tests them, doing drop tests, water tests, electric tests, and venting tests. We do this to get a third-party approval for our device. This is our way to ensure quality and demonstrate the diligence we bring into the development process.

EG: Speaking of the development process, how does the process of creating new devices or enhancing technology work for you?

JB: We get a lot of customer feedback, and we take all feedback seriously to see if there is something that everybody doesn’t like or what everybody wants to have. We review it, but the baseline remains an internal process.

For the Venty, for example, we said, “Okay, the MIGHTY+ is nice, but we would like something a little bit faster with more airflow.” So, this was clearly an internal idea. In the cannabis industry, if something isn’t widely available and a lot of people don’t know about vaporizers, it’s difficult to get good feedback. You have some experts who know a lot of devices, but this is only a few people, and they are already experts. This isn’t somebody on the street you can ask. The feedback you get is always that people want it to be cheap and small, which makes it a little bit difficult.

We develop a lot of these ideas in-house; Markus and I both use cannabis and we’re the first ones who test it. We stand behind it, and if I don’t like it or if I think it doesn’t work, then we don’t do it. This is our internal review process. But of course, the whole community brings in ideas, and all this together brings us to a new device.

EG: You mentioned just now that everyone wants it cheaper and smaller. A company that comes to mind when you say that is Apple. They revolutionized technology across

the world. I don’t know if you’ve heard this before, but a lot of people compare Storz & Bickel to Apple. They say Storz & Bickel is the Apple of the cannabis space.

JB: I’ve heard that. It’s nice to hear.

EG: With Apple for many years, after Steve Jobs passed, there wasn’t a lot of personality behind the brand. For Storz & Bickel, for many years, everyone knew the Volcano and the product, but nobody really knew who was behind it. There was no public face of the brand. Maybe it’s just me, but in the last year or two, we’ve seen you, Jürgen Bickel, really out there as an entrepreneur and a leader in the space, as a spokesperson not only for your brand but for the industry as a whole. You’re very active on social media. I’ve seen you speaking on panels and doing a lot more interviews. Is that a perception, or have you truly taken your message and the brand to the streets in the last few years?

JB: That’s absolutely true. Of course, in the past, the legal situation in the States and in Europe was much more difficult, and you may not have wanted to go out and present yourself as a big cannabis entrepreneur. This has changed in the last few years. I can talk more openly than the company can. I can use the word “cannabis.” I can show the consumption. I also want to show people what it is like. I don’t want to give a wrong image. Everything that is happening on social media is authentic. I’m a user at the end of the day, and I’m testing the device. I’ve tested tons of devices, and I want to transmit this message. I am who I am, and this is the company behind it. This is to build trust with people and say, “You can spend this amount of money. I assure you this is something good. This is not something you will regret at any point.”

EG: The economy around the industry has been challenging. What I’ve seen is that a lot of companies, specifically from Europe, were looking at the US for expansion. Now that Germany has legalized, a good number have reversed their focus back to Germany or Europe. Germany has a population of nine million, so it’s a massive move for the economy and for potential revenue. How has Germany impacted your focus? We know that Mary Jane Berlin had 44,000 to 45,000 attendees.

JB: From the baseline, we understand ourselves as a global brand. Every year, we ship to more than 100 countries. It shows that cannabis is consumed everywhere in the world, whatever the legal situation is. Even where penalties exist, people are still consuming—not in the same way or with the same openness—but worldwide, people have been using cannabis for thousands of years. This is part of our brand’s international approach. I like this about cannabis, seeing that people are using it everywhere in the world.

Of course, then you have your main markets where you have your main sales and main revenue. The US market is the biggest market for us. But Europe also became more important. It was always a good market, but with legalization in Germany, we doubled our revenue in Germany. It’s also personally much nicer to live in a legal environment where you can consume and have three plants at home, which is allowed. So, as a company, Germany is great, and it’s our home market and our home language, so we have a lot of focus here.

We also have a subsidiary in Oakland; an office with 15 people and more than 20 salespeople employed as Storz & Bickel America, Inc. I personally founded that company in 2005 in Oakland. So, on the revenue side, we look for our main markets, but our general approach is to be worldwide, and I’m proud to ship every year to more than 100 countries.

EG: I was very happy to see the Oakland expansion. I lived in Berkeley, California, for 10 years. I have a very fond love for Oaksterdam. It was a cradle of innovation, as they say, so close to Silicon Valley. Speaking of innovation, tell me about the new VEAZY vaporizer.

JB: The Venty was our last innovation, almost two years ago. It was a game-changer because it had high airflow. It’s a very successful device, but it is a little bit pricey and bulky. It has the performance for people who are using cannabis several times a day. We thought, like with the Mighty and Crafty, the Venty needs a little brother or sister. We came up with the “VEAZY.”

The VEAZY has the same feeling chamber inside, so it works with our capsules, but it’s much smaller and handier. It has a slightly higher heat-up time of 40 seconds, and the airflow is a little more restricted, but it’s a nice and small device. Our goal with this device was to bring our experience to a broader audience and make it more affordable. This will retail at $249 USD. It has great performance and is a very nice device.

EG: And it comes in a range of fun colors, right?

JB: Yes! All our devices are normally black, so we thought, “Let’s use a few colors if we’re going in a more lifestyle direction.” In addition to our alluring black, it will come in four colors: rainbow, a dynamic blue, inspiring orange, and a charming pink.

EG:  I love them so much. Being able to personalize a purchase is really important to people. In your home, you can use it as a presentation. It’s not just a device you pull out of a drawer. It’s something you can have on a bar cart or a conversation piece in the home, which is very exciting.

JB: It has the orange button, the different colors, and it works well and goes in your pocket. It’s a very good offer to the market. It’s also easy to use with a one-button design: You press it once, and it turns on. You see the orange light, and it heats up.

EG: It looks beautiful. It gives me an essence of a microphone for a rock star. You are the rock star of your own life with one of these. I can’t wait to try one. Congratulations.

As one of the leading brands and entrepreneurs in the space, what is your hope for the next five to 10 years? Do you think that we are on the cusp of a global or at least US legalization? What do you predict in the near and medium future?

JB: On the legal side, I think that it will go in the right direction. I don’t see things going back, even in the US. But even the current situation is acceptable. You can run a business in this space and do certain things. You see this globally. Australia, for example, is a good market. You also see advancements in South Africa and even in Brazil. The same thing happens: It goes through medical and then recreational. It gets acceptance. Our generation is the first one that is more open to it. The younger generation is more open to it, questions alcohol, and has more openness towards cannabis. So, I see this as a positive, and I think this trend will remain.

EG: Absolutely. In order to have the future that we are hoping for, I believe that the normalization of cannabis and the products and brands behind them is very important. What I’ve also noticed in the last year or two with Storz & Bickel is you have done specific things with your brand, connecting them with mainstream, normalizing opportunities. What is the next event that you guys have on your calendar, either in Europe or in the US, that is a larger opportunity for you?

JB: The next show is the cannabis show in Prague, in the Czech Republic. We will have a launch party in New York the weekend after. We are thinking about something in San Diego as well. Then, of course, MJ BizCon and Hall of Flowers in Santa Rosa are coming up. Those are the bigger events. In Europe, Mary Jane was great.

EG: Awesome. JB, it has been a pleasure to connect with you. I’ve been watching your progress over the years. I graduated high school in 2000, and the Volcano quickly came into my world when I was in college. It’s been a true pleasure to see someone like you grow over the years and now to talk to you personally. Thank you so much.

2023 REVIEW ON VYPRVPN

By: Shushiro

Estimated reading time: 10 minutes

About VyprVPN

VyprVPN based in Switzerland and owned by Golden Frog was developed in 2009. It has two versions designed for various purposes. One is designed for ‘fast and highly secure personal VPN service’, while the other is designed for ‘security in business connections’.

In that sense, Golden Frog is a global service provider which is committed to preserving an open and secure internet experience. Besides VyprVPN, they are also the owners of OUTFOX which is an optimized gaming network; designed to reduce lag and lower pings

Features of VyprVPN

Below are my reviewed features mentioned by the company;

Split Tunneling

DNS Leak Protection

No-Log VPN

Kill Switch

Public Wi-Fi Protection

24/7 Customer Support

10 Simultaneous Connections

Access to Restricted Content

Split Tunneling

After years of writing reviews on VPNs, I didn’t think I would be surprised anymore when it comes to this feature, but VyprVPN surprisingly accomplished this.

Their split tunneling is unique, in the sense that, it splits your internet traffic when you stream with your device. It is more like having multiple accounts for a website, but in this case, you don’t go through the process of personally creating them.

DNS Leak Protection

Well, what is a VPN without privacy/security? This is what this function is all about. It fortifies your data, making sure that none of it is leaked to any unknown party.

No-Log VPN

Thankfully, unlike most VPN companies who lie about their no-log policy, VyprVPN didn’t lie about theirs. Their main server is based in Switzerland, which means that they aren’t part of the Eyes Alliance.

So unless they purposely leaked or shared your data, you have no reason to doubt their no-log policy.

Kill Switch

This feature automatically blocks all internet access as soon as the software detects that your device is disconnected. The feature is useful in cases of device/software malfunction.

Public Wi-Fi Protection

Forgot to switch on VyprVPN when connecting to Wi-Fi? No worries, cause the software automatically turns on as soon as it detects your device connecting to a Wi-Fi network. Making such forgetful instances are rare.

24/7 Customer Support

Surprisingly VyprVPN has an active customer support. And if you’ve used VPNs from various companies, you’ll find out that most of them don’t have a stable customer support service. Some don’t even have one at all.

10 Simultaneous Connections

Most VPN companies lie about this feature, where they mention having an unlimited number of connections, whereas they may only have 6. Although there are VPNs that can connect to an unlimited number of devices using one account, it’s rare.

And VyprVPN sadly is one of those liars. After reviewing the VPN, the number of devices that I discovered can be used at once is 5. Though unless you’re connecting the devices of the whole family or company, 5 should be enough for a person right?

Access to Restricted Content

One of the main reasons why we use a VPN besides security and privacy, isn’t it all about unrestricted access? And VyprVPN does this job perfectly. Whether it’s access to censored or blocked internet content, VyprVPN does a good job in this regard.

Pricing

When it comes to pricing, VyprVPN made theirs simple. With a monthly plan of $10, and a yearly plan of $60 at $5 per month. And a 30-day free trial, after which you can cancel the subscription and get your money back. Their means of payment is in dollars.

Devices and Platforms

VyprVPN is supported on Windows, macOS, Android OS, iOS, Linux, Chrome OS, Amazon OS, and QNAP. It also runs on any device running OpenELEC/Kodi on OpenELEC. Along with Routers that run on Tomato Firmware, DD-WRT Firmware, OpenEWRT, AsusWRT, and AsusWRT-Merlin.

Regions

I confirmed that VyprVPN has about 700 individual servers in over 70+ countries. I know, it isn’t much, but for the areas that do have a server, it’s quite fast.

Torrenting (Does it Work? Is it Safe?)

Yes, VyprVPN is secure enough, so using it for torrenting isn’t an issue.

Does VyprVPN Offer a Free Trial?

Yes, it does, though it’s only a 30-day free trial that is active after subscribing to a plan. You can cancel the subscription within 30 days of payment and get back your money.

Protocols Used in VyprVPN?

The protocols used in VyprVPN include WireGuard, IPSec, OpenVPN, and Chameleon.

Netflix

The VPN unexpectedly doesn’t limit you when streaming on Netflix. And because of the split tunneling feature, almost all libraries are accessible. Amazing right?

VyprVPN with Tor

Yes, the software is compatible with Tor.

How Does VyprVPN Compare With Your Favorite VPNs?

Let’s compare NordVPN and ExpressVPN along with VyprVPN and see which is better.

Let’s startup with NordVPN.

We all know about this VPN or have at least heard a thing or two about it. This is one of the best VPNs in the VPN industry, because of its  privacy and trusted policies.

In terms of similarity, they both offer great privacy features. Though ExpressVPN is best used on computers, while VyprVPN is best for phones.

NordVPN gives the users more detailed profile settings and configuration, it also has more servers (5246) as compared to VyprVPN (700).

But in terms of streaming (i.e Netflix), VyprVPN grants its users access to more country libraries than NordVPN.

NordVPN has more bandwidth than VyprVPN (meaning that NordVPN is faster).

And lastly, NordVPN has a more expensive and complicated subscription plan as compared to VyprVPN. Click here to view NordVPN subscription plans cause it’s way too long to type (or I just happen to be lazy).

In conclusion, they’re both similar in terms of security and privacy. But if you want a VPN that can be used on the go (i.e phones, or tablets), then go for VyprVPN. If you want one for productivity and speed, choose NordVPN.

ExpressVPN on the other hand.

Is a great VPN which is based in the British Virgin Islands, which also isn’t part of the eyes alliance. Making the security and no-log policy of the VPN at the same level as NordVPN and VyprVPN.

Although their security levels are on par with each other, there will always be some differences.

ExpressVPN has about 3000+ servers in 94 countries, although it isn’t as much as NordVPN (5246), it’s better than VyprVPN (700).

The speed test which I initiated both in the UK and the US, showed that their bandwidth is quite similar to each other. The highest being 301.63 Mbps and the lowest being 196.38 Mbps.

ExpressVPN is more user-friendly, in the sense that it offers its users more features that make their experience using the software better.

The pricing is less complicated than NordVPN but more expensive than VyprVPN. With a monthly subscription of $12.95; 6 months at $59.94 charged at 9.99 per month, and yearly at $80.04 at $6.67 per month. Although you get extra free 3 months on the yearly subscription.

In conclusion, besides the pricing and the number of servers owned by the companies, they’re almost similar in other areas.

Pros & Cons

You know what they say, everything has both pros and cons aspect in them, so why not a VPN?

Pro Aspect

VyprVPN offers great security, and has yet to have a bad reputation to its name. And its no-log policy give its users peace of mind when using the software. In general, it’s a stable normal VPN with no distinctive feature about it.

Con Aspect

There is no specific bad aspect about the VPN that will disqualify it from being recommended to the pubic. Besides the fact that they lied about their 10 simultaneous connection (which ended up being 6), it makes you wonder what else they lied about.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ø Is VyprVPN Safe?

Yes, it is. The safety is comparable with ExpressVPN.

Ø Can VyprVPN Unblock Netflix?

Yes, it can. It also gives you access to more countries’ libraries than NordVPN.

Ø Is VyprVPN Good For Torrenting?

Yes, it is.

Ø Is VyprVPN Good For Gaming?

Yes, the bandwidth (internet speed) is fast enough to support 4k gaming.

Conclusion

It’s a great VPN for the most part. Great security and privacy policies. My only issue with the VPN is in regard to the number of servers, only 700? Really?

REVIEW ON WINDSCRIBE VPN 2023

By: Shushiro

Estimated reading time: 12 minutes

About WindScribe

WindScribe was developed in 2015, and released on April 20, 2016, after a trial run of almost a year. The VPN provider is based in Canada and owned by Yego Sak.

That about covers the intro on the VPN, now let’s dive in and see what I discovered after a few weeks of review on WindScribe.

Features of WindScribe

Below are the main recognized features of Winscribe;

Large Network

R.O.B.E.R.T.

No Identifying Logs

Strongest Encryption

Config Generators

ScribeForce

Simple Clients

Use for Free

Static IPs

Port Forwarding

Split Tunneling

Kill Switch

Large Network

One of the things I love about WindScribe is that there are servers physically available in the countries mentioned to have one. This also helps in  improving the trust in their products. Which in turn improves the reach of their audience.

R.O.B.E.R.T.

Let’s view this feature as an anti-virus or an ad-blocker. This feature can be customized to block certain sites, ads, and things like that. Thereby making your browsing experience faster and more secure.

No Identifying Logs

Most VPN users should know what this feature is all about, but for those who don’t, read on.

This feature is more like an assurance given by most VPN companies that their data are safe, and not shared.

In other words, WindScribe promises its users, complete discretion whereby logs of their activities are safe and secure with no copy saved in their systems. Although we all know that this is a lie told to deceive the audience since Canada is part of the 5 eyes alliance.

Strongest Encryption

WindScribe is known for making use of 3 encryption software such as; 4096-bit RSA which is a legitimate encryption cipher. SHA512 auth (Secure Hash Algorithm 512) which is used on converting the text of any length into a fixed-size string. AES-256 (Advanced Encryption Standard) is a recognized military encryption software.

TLS 1.2, ECDHW_RSA with P-256 key exchange, and AES_128_GCM cipher is used in their browser extensions.

Config Generators

In a situation whereby your device is incapable of supporting WindScibes applications or you don’t feel comfortable using it, this feature would allow you to manually configure the protocols of the VPN. But it’s only available in the Pro account.

ScribeForce

Well, from my  review on WindScribe, I found out that this feature is mostly used by organizations, especially large ones. It gives the boss of the company access on managing the VPN accounts of the members.

So basically, the name ScribeForce is just there to make the feature sound cool.

Simple Clients

WindScribe took into consideration that not all users are technologically proficient, hence they made their software simple and user-friendly.

Use for Free

When it comes to VPNs, this feature made it one of the best (well in my perspective though, well what do you think). WindScribe made their VPN as free as possible, and as long as you have a confirmed email address, you would be able to get 10GB per month.

The only downside is that this feature isn’t available in every county but only in 10 countries. So if you happen to live in countries outside the includes countries, then…

Static IPs

Unlike most VPNs which generate new IP addresses each time you change locations, WindScribe found a solution for that. Static IPs are just like regular IPs, but with a twist. It reconnects you to the same external IP every you connect to the Static IP, thereby making your connection faster. And more stable.

The Static IP servers can be found in 13 different locations. And they come in 2 different versions. Data-center IP and Residential IP.

Whereby the Data-centre IP is no different from their regular standard IP address. Whereas the Residential IP makes it look like your using an IP address assigned by an ISP (Internet Service Provider), though you don’t.

Port Forwarding

This feature makes it possible for you to access your computer or home network remotely when connected to WindScribe. Things like; Security Cams, Torrent Client Web GUI, etc can be remotely accessed with the help of this function. In other words, you can connect to your devices from anywhere.

Split Tunneling

You can find this feature in almost every other VPN, but WindScribe improved on this feature. Unlike other VPNs where this feature allows you to exclude certain apps from the VPN. Meaning that the apps connect directly to your network provider instead of first passing through the VPN.

WindScribe gave theirs two modes; Exclusive and Inclusive. Whereby the Exclusive links all your apps to the VPN, giving you the option of selecting the specific apps you would  want to connect to your internet provider.

And the Inclusive removes all your apps from the VPN, except the few apps you choose to pass through the VPN.

Kill Switch

This is a helpful feature for VPNs which prevents your phone from connecting to the internet directly, in cases where WindScribe troubleshoots due to a software malfunction. It will only reconnect when the VPN stabilizes.

Other Features

Although much attention isn’t always paid to these features, I decided to mention them either way.

Firewall

Secure Hotspot

Proxy Gateway

Flexible Connection

Auto Pilot

Double Hop

Ad Blocking

Time Warp

Cookie Monster

Split Personality

WebRTC Slayer

Location Warp

To read more on the mentioned features, click here

Pricing

When it comes to pricing, WindScribe made theirs simple. A monthly plan of $9 per month, and a yearly plan of $69 at $5.75 per month. WindScribe mentioned giving their users who have confirmed email addresses free 10GB every month, but I’m not sure if that’s true. But I’m certain that there would be some strings attached to this offer.

Oh, and it’s only available on their free version, which in turn is only available in 11 countries. These include; the U.S., U.K., Canada, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway, Romania, and Turkey. Other countries need to pay.

Payments are made in Dollars, and they can be made using Bitcoin, PayPal, Payment wall, American Express, and a Visa or MasterCard.

Devices and Platforms

After my weeks of review on WindScribe, one of the characteristic that I wasn’t able to figure out is the limit of connected devices. Most VPN users would usually like to know how many devices could be connected to their accounts.

Well, WindScribe mentioned their users being able to connect all of their devices, and I think they meant it. I was able to connect 26 devices to my account, and believe that isn’t the limit. So you and your family can use the VPN without bothering about the limit for connected devices.

It’s available on Windows, Android, iOS, macOS, Huawei, and Linux, it also has extensions for Chrome, Opera, Firefox, and Routers.

Regions

I confirmed on my review on WindScribe, that it has over 500 servers in 63 countries and 110 cities, 11 countries of which are eligible for their monthly free 10GB. Though the number of servers isn’t much.

Torrenting (Does it Work? Is it Safe?)

I used the VPN for a few days while torrenting, and I can say for sure that the security features made it safe and reliable, for torrenting.

Yes and No.Yes, cause it does have a free version that offers the users free 10GB every month. No cause out of the 68 countries, the free version is only available in 11 countries.

Protocols Used in WindScribe VPN?

WindScribe makes use of OpenVPN, IKEv2, and WireGuard. And get this, you can set up the connections manually, if it isn’t supported on your device, or  if you don’t plan on using them.

Netflix

My review on WindScribe proved that just like every other software out there, to enjoy all the features that it has to offer, some payments have to be made.

Both the free and paid  versions work really well with Netflix, but here’s the catch. The free version gives you access only to 6 libraries, while the paid version gives you access to 32 libraries.

See the difference.

WindScribe with Tor

WindScribe is compatible with Tor, but it’s only available on a desktop.

Customer Support

Thankfully, unlike some VPN companies who mention having a customer support service, just for the users to discover that they hardly function or that it doesn’t even exist in the first place, WindScribe’s customer service center works just fine.

How does WindScribe VPN compare with your favorite VPNs?

I’ll be comparing WindScribe with ExpressVPN and Surfshark VPN

ExpressVPN was developed in 2009, as compared to WindScribe which was developed in 2015, so it has had more time to develop itself.

When it comes to pricing, ExpressVPN is more expensive. Priced at $99.84 on their yearly plan, as compared to WindScribe which is priced at $69. Along with their free version which gives its users free 10GB monthly, I believe WIndScribe wins this one.

When it comes to connecting devices, ExpressVPN has a limit of 5 devices per account (Meaning you can only connect 5 devices on one account). Whereas WindScribe didn’t limit their users in this area, so you can connect as many devices as you want.

In terms of streaming, WindScribe users can’t stream Amazon Prime and ABC Videos but ExpressVPN can.

ExpressVPN has over 3000+ servers in 94 countries while WindScribe has around 500 servers in 63 countries.

Users enjoy more customer service on ExpressVPN.

WindScribe has some areas where it has an advantage, but overall, I believe ExpressVPN won.

Surfshark is almost similar to Windscribe with a lot of differences.

Surfshark is based in the British Virgin Islands, which means they aren’t included in the 5, 9, and 14 eyes alliances. In other words, if they say they don’t keep a log of your activities, then know that they don’t.

Surfshark has more servers and locations as compared to WIndScribe with around 3200+ servers in 65 countries.

Compared to WindScribe, Surfshark VPN is cheaper with a yearly subscription of $47.88 and a two-year sub of $59.76, amazing right?

Surfshark has also won a lot of awards for being one of the best VPNs in the industry, while WindScribe sadly hasn’t.

So Surfshark crushed WindScribe in almost everything.

Pros & Cons

These are the pros and cons of using WindScribe VPN

Con Aspect

WindScibe is a nice trusted VPN, it’s safe, secure and most importantly, reliable. But, my issue with them is their location. Which is located in Canada and is part of the 5 Eyes Alliance. So they’re required by law to keep a log of your activities.

Unless you’re into illegal stuff, or a paranoid person who believes that everyone is out to get you, and isn’t against the government monitoring your activities, you have nothing to worry about.

Pro Aspect

Now WindScribe made me proud in this aspect. After my study or review of WindScribe VPN, I found that a lot of its features favor the users.

Like it’s secure and reliable, plus some additional features offered by the software (which I listed above). But most of all, I appreciated the free 10GB offered by the company, though it’s only accessible in 11 countries and only on their free software version.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ø Is WindScribe VPN trustworthy?

Yes in a way. Besides being part of the 5 eyes alliance, it’s trustworthy.

Ø Is WindScribe VPN safe?

It has a free version which is entirely free, and also offers its users free 10GB every month.

Ø Can WindScribe VPN be tracked?

It can be tracked through normal means. So it’s secure.

Ø Does WindScribe sell your data?

No, they don’t unless it’s to the government. After all, Canada is part of the 5 eyes alliance.

Conclusion

Besides being part of the 5 eyes alliance, and some restrictions associated with the free version, the VPN is Ok.

TunnelBear VPN Review 2022

By: Shushiro

Estimated reading time: 13 minutes

About TunnelBear

TunnelBear is a free public VPN service developed by Daniel Kaldor and Ryan Dochuk in 2011 but was acquired by McAfee in March 2018. Their servers are can be found in over 47 countries, but their main server is located in Toronto Canada.

Fun fact, TunnelBear VPN is so simple that you could use the app in place of your browser. Maybe that’s why its users no longer bother using their phone’s default browser since TunnelBear serves both as a browser and a VPN.

Features of TunnelBear VPN

Most VPNs have a lot of features in common, though they may have one or two specialized features which are unique to them. But after I reviewed TunnelBear VPN, according to the features mentioned by the company, below are the list of feature which I confirmed to be effective.

Vigilant Bear (Kill Switch)

Closest Tunnel

Always On

No Logging

Safe WiFi Protection

500MB Free

GhostBear

Strong Encryption

Unlimited Devices

SplitBear (Split Tunneling)

Vigilant Bear (Kill Switch)

This strengthens your privacy while connecting and reconnecting. If you happen to switch between WiFi or your network connection is interrupted for some reason, this feature protects your device, as it automatically searches for a server for re-connection. Though you need to switch on this feature in the settings. You could also call this feature a ‘kill switch.

And is there a need for the protection part if you’re already disconnected from the internet? This makes me wonder if this feature does what it claims to do. It would be more believable to me if it only searches for a connection and not protecting you while it searches for a connection. But what do you think?

Closest Tunnel

This feature can also be called the Fastest Tunnel. It works together with vigilant mode, cause this feature searches for the server which is the closest to your location and connects you to it. Though you need to select this feature from the list of countries menu.

Always On

This turns on the VPN as soon as you switch on your device. So you don’t need to worry about a situation where you forgot to switch on the VPN after restarting your device.

No Logging

This is a common feature in most VPNs, where the company states that they don’t keep or save a copy of your activities, though most of them lie about this.

During my review of TunnelBear, I found out that they are based in Canada. And guess what, Canada is part of the Five Eyes Alliance (FVEY), and this means that they are demanded by Canadian law, to share a copy of their user’s activities for security purposes.

Safe WiFi Protection

This feature grants TunnelBear users protection when connected to a public WiFi or any other untrusted network.

500MB Free

I was surprised when I saw this feature, though it’s not really a feature, it’s more like a bonus granted to their users. Every user is given a 500MB free internet connection every month, though you can increase the limit to 1.5GB by tweeting about the company.

Unlike most VPN companies which only give you 30 days of free access, and then demand you subscribe to a plan from then on, TunnelBear’s offer has more value for its users.

GhostBear

This feature encrypts your data, making it less detectable by your country’s cyber-security team. It makes your traffic less detectable on the network, making it harder to block, then making it easier for you to access certain censored sites (you know what I mean right).

Strong Encryption

Just like other VPNs, TunnelBear also uses an AES 256-bit encryption by default. And note that this is military-grade encryption.

Unlimited Devices

It is available on most devices like Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows, it even has extensions for browsers like Firefox and Chrome.

Split Bear (Split Tunneling)

Split tunneling is a feature in VPNs that allows users to decide on which apps in their device get to be protected by the VPN or just access the internet directly. TunnelBear call this Split Bear, and it’s only available for Android users.

Customer Support

TunnelBear has promised its users 24/7 customer support, with trained and dedicated support staff, who are knowledge-based in commonly asked questions.

Though, after a few weeks of using the app, and reviewing their user’s comments and thoughts regarding their performance, their promise ended up being a disappointment. Their response is slow, at times you won’t even be able to reach them. So on a scale of 1-10, I’m gonna rate them a 4 for the effort of even having customer support.

Worldwide Network

It has over 3000 servers spread across 47 countries. But being available, and being accessible are two different things. If the main point when picking a VPN is security, then the next most important should be Speed.

People always asked me in my review on TunnelBear, about how fast it is. Well, its average download speed is clocked at 50.6 MBps, while the maximum is 385 MBps.

Protocols

TunnelBear uses highly secure known protocols as their main system protocols. Which includes: OpenVPN/IKEv2 on Windows, OpenVPN on macOS and Android, and IPSec/IKEv2 protocols on iOS. Click here to read more.

Netflix

Though Netflix is known for blocking its users who access their site through VPNs, especially those using free VPNs, TunnelBear is luckily one of the few that you could grant the users access to Netflix with their free version. But you can only access US Netflix.

What about Tor

For those who like accessing the dark web, it’s always a great idea to check if the VPN is built to handle such activities. And after reviewing TunnelBear, I discovered that its users can access the dark web using Tor, but the speed significantly dropped. So unless you’re a patient person, with nowhere to go, I’d recommend not using it for such activities.

Is TunnelBear Free?

Well, the answer to this is yes and no. Yes because it does have a free version, like downloading the app is free, but it’s free in the sense that you get 500MB per month for free browsing.

Then no because you’re gonna have to pay in other to continue using the VPN after exhausting the 500MB. Though you can increase the limit for the free data by tweeting about the company.

Pricing

Besides the free 500MB offer, you get an Unlimited plan and a Team plan.

In the unlimited plan, the monthly plan goes for $9.99.

The 1 year is at $39.99 which is $3.33 per month.

The 3 years plan is $120.00 at $3.33 per month.

The team plan to me should be for those who own a company. You can decide on the number of team members who would be using the app. Like you’ll add their email account to the list of team members, then when they log in to TunnelBear, they can use the app since their account has already been registered.

It’s more like you paying your friend’s electricity bill. The payment starts at $138 per year for 2 members. Then for any new member included, $69 is added to the $138.

Meaning the first 2 members are $138, 3 members are $207 (138+69), 4 members are $276 (207+69), and so on. The maximum amount of team members that a person can have in an account is 200 members.

And they are all billed once, meaning that you don’t pay in installments, and they are only made in Dollars.

Number of Devices

Well, according to the VPN, you can connect an unlimited amount of devices, but we should know better than to trust their words right.

After my review on TunnelBear, I discovered that you can only connect 5 devices at a time, more than that, and the app starts showing error messages. Maybe they believed that most users won’t need to connect more than 3 to 4 devices to the VPN.

Torrenting (Does it Work? Is it Safe)

Torrenting checks out okay on TunnelBear, everything works well, and the downloads are fast. And since the VPN has a kill switch function called Vigilant Bear, that means it’s safe for use. So TunnelBear users can shouldn’t worry much concerning this part.

How does TunnelBear VPN compare with your favorite VPNs?

I’ll be comparing NordVPN and ExpressVPN with TunnelBear VPN, to find out which among them is the best when it comes to the VPN industry.

NordVPN will be the first to go. When it comes to reach and availability, NordVPN is better. It has over 5,600 servers in 60+ countries, as compared to TunnelBear with 3,000 servers in 47 countries.

When it comes to NordVPN, their users in a designated area are given a dedicated IP address as compared to TunnelBear which shared their IP address.

Another point to consider when deciding between the two is streaming. NordVPN has an easier bypass in terms of VPN bans e.g Netflix while accessing them using TunnelBear is a bit more difficult.

In terms of overall features, capability, safety measures, and pricing, NordVPN is better. Though some might prefer TunnelBear due to the 500MB / 1.5GB free data.

When you search for the world’s top 10 VPNs, ExpressVPN is always included in the list. And here’s why when compared to TunnelBear.

When it comes to customer support, ExpressVPN has a 24/7 live chat with responsive, knowledgeable agents. TunnelBear on the other hand can only be contacted through email or web contact.

When it comes to servers, they have over 3000+ in over 94 countries.

Their other features are similar with the exception being whether they are honest and serious in the mentioned features.

Pros & Cons

Now let’s talk about what will get to experience when using TunnelBear VPN.

Con Aspect

Yes it does have a lot of features, but most of the features are either slow, don’t work, or a lie told by the company. And a VPN is meant to be trusted, so when you can trust the VPN you’re using, I really what why you’d keep using it.

Pro Aspect

The users will appreciate the simplicity and easy-to-use feature of the VPN. As well as the free 500MB / 1.5GB given on their free plan. The Torrenting and Tor compatibility of the VPN also has no issues, so users can surf the dark web without worries. Though access to Tor might be slow at times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ø Is TunnelBear VPN Free to Use?

Yes, it has a free version, which offers its users 500MB per month or 1.5GB if they tweet about the company every month.

Ø Which is better, NordVPN or TunnelBear VPN?

NordVPN is faster, safer, and more secure than TunnelBear VPN. It also offers better streaming service/connections than TunnelBear.

Ø Does TunnelBear allow Torrenting?

Yes, it does. It’s one of their features that I’m confident doesn’t have any issues.

Ø Does TunnelBear hide your IP address?

Yes, it does, though it’s not the best when it comes to that.

Conclusion

It’s a simple VPN, it has and does most of the basic things which are required of a VPN. But other than that, it’s just too basic with a lot of disappointments and empty promised functions/features.

ProtonVPN Review 2022

By: Shushiro

Estimated reading time: 12 minutes

About Proton

Proton is a VPN service company that was established on May 2014, by Proton AG a Swiss technology company that offers a private-focused online service. Their main base is located in Switzerland, Geneva to be precise.

Fun fact, Proton VPN is one of the few employee-owned companies in the world. By employee-owned, I mean a situation whereby a vast majority of the company’s shares are owned by the employees. The VPNs developers are also the ones who made Proton Mail. One of the most popular, secure mailing software in the world.

Read more on Proton VPN review 2022.

Feature of Proton VPN

The main feature mentioned by Proton VPNs developers includes;

  • Secure Core
  • NetShield
  • Accelerator
  • Stealth
  • Strong Encryption
  • Forward Secrecy
  • Full Disk Encryption
  • Swiss Privacy
  • Open Source
  • Independently Audited
  • Physical Security
  • No-logs Policy
  • Kill Switch and Always-on
  • Speed
  • Easy to Use

Secure Core

This feature protects your connections by routing them through multiple servers. And since you first have to pass through the Proton VPNs server, the perpetrators (hackers) will find it more difficult to access your data. And even if by some chance they managed to do so, the secure core protocol will prevent them from locating your IP address.

The secure core has its own separate servers which are located in Sweden, Switzerland, and Iceland.

NetShield

I’m sure that a lot of Proton users would love this feature, cause it functions as an Ad-blocker. I don’t need to explain how welcoming this feature is for most VPN users. Like just this feature is enough to convince me to switch to this VPN.

Accelerator

This feature speeds up the VPN by over 400% by overcoming the CPU limitations, it’s more like the game booster found in most phones. Any gamer would understand how important this feature is for Proton users, cause it speeds up the functions of the VPN, thereby making your internet connections faster.

Stealth

This helps Proton users bypass most firewalls and sites with censorship protocols. It makes the VPN traffic look like the regular traffic acceptable to the visited site. In other words, Proton users can visit most websites, or use most internet software that was usually inaccessible to them.

Strong Encryption

Proton VPN developers mentioned using AES-256 encryption. And for those who don’t know what it means to be using such encryption, just know that this is the encryption used in the military in most world power countries like the U.S.

Forward Secrecy

Now, this is one of my best Proton features yet. Why? Well, this feature generates a new encryption key or traffic for each session, just in case of a situation where your previous encryption traffic happens to be compromised. Maybe the hacker saved it so they could decrypt and use it later.

What it generally means is that let’s take your phone to be the device using Proton VPN, but instead of as a VPN software, they are now in charge of your phone’s security/password.

Then in other to prevent a case where your phone’s password happened to have been figured out by a third party (hacker), they generate a new password for your device each time it is locked. This means that the password you used to unlock the phone this time will be different from the one you’ll be using the next time.

Full Disk Encryption

This function secures and encrypts the hard drives, cause VPNs are still at the end of the day computer software. This feature was set in place to protect the software’s configurations and servers against any man-in-the-middle attacks.

Basically, it means, ‘take the government, for instance, they could send in or convince a person working in the company to make certain changes that would benefit them, but doesn’t sit well with the VPN users’. The feature is the protocol against such cases.

Swiss Privacy

Proton VPN is based in Switzerland, and trust me, this is a blessing. Why you may ask? Well, that’s because, unlike the countries that are part of the 5 Eyes, 9 Eyes, and 14 Eyes Alliance, Switzerland fortunately, isn’t part of them.

The eyes Alliance as I call them, are countries that demand VPN companies based in their countries to send them a copy of their users. In short, they monitor your activities.

But Proton VPN isn’t demanded to so their data, or in this case, your data isn’t shared with another party.

Open Source

Proton VPN source codes are released from SEC Consult for anyone who wishes to examine and monitor their codes. This is done to ensure full transparency and to boost the confidence of their users since they can check firsthand if the app is doing what it should be doing.

Independently Audited

Although their codes can be examined by just about anyone, it doesn’t mean that they could be edited. Just view it as a read-only doc file (MS Word), you can look but you can’t touch vibes.

Physical Security

Proton VPN developers didn’t only ensure the digital security of their servers, but even the physical location is secure. The security access installed, the infrastructure of the building, and the security personnel, are all top-notch.

No-logs Policy

Thanks to Swiss law, Proton VPN is not obligated to save or send log copies of their users. So there’s no need to worry about your log activities being sent to a third party since there are no saved logs to start with.

Kill Switch and Always-on

This function is crucial for a case whereby happened to be suddenly disconnected from the VPN server due to a technical issue, maybe from your end or theirs. This function immediately disconnects you from the internet. Then the always-on function immediately tries to re-establish a  connection with a server.

Speed

The developers of Proton VPN mentioned that their users won’t have to worry about the speed of their connection. All Proton VPN servers have a bandwidth of 1 Gbps minimum. And for most of them, the bandwidth can go as high as 10 Gbps, so no need to worry about your network speed.

Easy To Use

The Proton VPN app is extremely user-friendly, with simple settings, ensuring that each of its users understands the setup. At least these guys understood that not every person speaks tech. Some people just can’t deal with all that complicated stuff.

Compatibility with Tor

Proton VPN comes with Tor support built into it.

Supporting Operating Systems

Proton VPN is available on all devices such as PCs, Macs, smartphones, and routers. The software has usable applications for; Windows, macOS, Android, Linux, Chromebook, Android TV, and iOS/iPadOS.

Netflix

Well, the VPN doesn’t block free users from streaming Netflix videos, though Netflix does. Netflix is often known for blocking IP addresses using free servers, and it’s also possible for it to happen to those using Proton VPN’s free servers.

Global Servers

Proton VPN has around 1,874 servers scattered around 66 countries. And for the speed, according to Proton, it’s at 2,193 Gbps (Gigabit Per Second). Now that would be exceptionally amazing if that speed were to be true.

Pricing – Is it worth it?

You know what they say, ‘good products are expensive, and the same rule applies to Proton VPN. Their monthly plan is set at $9.99, and their 1 -year plan at $71.88, set at $5.99 per month. Then for the 2 years plan, it’s set at $119.76, set at $4.99 per month.

How does Proton VPN compare with your favorite VPNs?

I’ll be comparing Proton VPN with NordVPN and ExpressVPN. I’ll be comparing their features, pricing, performance, and things that are expected of them.

The first test was with ExpressVPN and after a few tests, ExpressVPN won. It is available in more countries and has more servers than Proton VPN. And for those who don’t know, having more servers for a VPN means more stability for the users wherever they may go.

But the Proton VPN is better in terms of the supporting applications that it offers. ExpressVPN only has a 27/7 chat app, while Proton VPN offers a Proton Mail, Proton Calendar, and Proton Drive. Though ExpressVPN happens to be more expensive at $6.67.

The second test performed using NordVPN showed it being better than Proton in the countries that it could be found in, as well as the number of servers it has. It even has more servers than ExpressVPN. It’s also less expensive at $3.09.

Pros & Cons

Now let’s discuss what the users stand to gain or lose by using Proton VPN.

Con Aspect

The disadvantages that I observed after trying out Proton VPN for a while are;

The servers are slow, sometimes, but that is because it doesn’t have a lot of servers to start with.

It doesn’t offer 24/7 customer support, so you should only contact them during office work times.

And you can only access all their features when you pay for their highest plan available.

Pro Aspect

The VPN has a lot of pros that go with using it, such as;

For starters, the supported applications are a great bonus, since they’re extremely secure and safe to use.

The simplicity of the VPN makes it user-friendly, and easy for all to understand and use.

The open source policy has also helped the VPN gain the trust of its users since they could monitor the codes and ensure that there isn’t a problem with the software.

Protocol Used

Proton VPN is known for making use of AES-256 Symmetric Cipher which it uses to secure your data and RSA-4096 which helps in validating the identity of the server being connected to.

Supported Platform (Apps)

Proton VPN is really popular cause, not only does the Proton Company run a trusted VPN company, they also have other well-known applications.

Proton Mail – This is an encryption-focused mailing software. It’s a private email software that encrypts all sent and received mail by default. So its users don’t have to worry about facing a situation where their emails are viewed by unwanted individuals.

Proton Calendar – This is more like a schedule planner but in this case, you’re ensured that your records are safe.

Proton Drive – This is a cloud storage where you save files or data. Proton promised their users that they never have to worry about losing, or encountering any problems with their files.

Proton Free

This is the free version of Proton VPN. After a few weeks of trying it out, I’d say that it’s good, safe to use, and you can use it without data limits. Oh and I forgot to mention that it’s also open-source so you can still check out its codes. Though it only offers three server locations and doesn’t work with Netflix or Torrenting.

Proton Torrenting

Though torrenting doesn’t work on Proton free, Proton VPN is still a solid choice when it comes to torrenting. Since offers P2P-friendly servers, good speeds, and strong encryption. The kill switch, no-logs policy, and other features combined help ensure that the user enjoys their time torrenting.

Connecting Devices

You can only connect one device when using Proton Free. But if you want to connect or make use of multiple devices, then you’re better off getting their Plus plan, which can connect up to 10 devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ø Is Proton VPN Free to Use?

Well yes and no. Yes because it has a free version though it is only accessible to those living in the United States, Netherlands, and Japan. No cause the free version has a lot of limitations, and users can’t fully enjoy all the software has to offer unless they get the paid version.

Ø Is Proton VPN any good as a VPN?

Yes, it is currently one of the best in the world.

Ø Means of Payment Accepted?

Payments can be made in Dollars, Euros, or Swiss francs.

Ø Does Proton VPN work with Chrome?

Yes, it does, I tried it out using my Chromebook, and everything checks out.

Conclusion

The VPN is reliable and secure, their open source policy puts a lot of their user’s minds to rest. But if you live outside the United States, Netherlands, or Japan, then I won’t recommend using it much cause there might be cases of slow connections.

Review on CyberGhost VPN 2022

By: Shushiro

Estimated reading time: 10 minutes

About CyberGhost

CyberGhost is a VPN company founded in 2011, based in Bucharest, Romania. It’s one of the VPNs owned by Kape Technologies, a cybersecurity company, which is based in the Isle of Man, in the UK. Fun fact, aside from CyberGhost VPN, Kape Technologies is the actual owner of ZenMate VPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), and ExpressVPN. The company (Kape Technologies) has more than 6,100 servers in 88 countries and uses several VPN protocols

Feature of CyberGhost VPN

The main features of CyberGhost VPN are:

Global Servers

Ironclad Security

Anonymity

Protection

Netflix

Complete Access

Lightning-Fast Connections

24/7 Customer Support

Global Servers

CyberGhost currently has around 9,586 servers, in 91 countries and 115 different locations. It has had a lot of good reviews in this aspect because of its availability for users in different locations. It’s especially convenient for users who travel around.

Ironclad Security

CyberGhost has promised its users the best security feature that they could think of. In other words, users don’t need to worry about Microsoft’s data collection on their Windows device, since CyberGhost has developed a 4-in-1 security privacy center; which includes: a VPN, Antivirus, Security Updater, and a Privacy Guard.

Their users also enjoy world-class protocols and military-grade AES 256- bit encryption. So you can communicate, download work, and surf the net without worrying about the government, digital crooks, cybercriminals, and advertisers, getting their hands on your data.

And even in situations where your VPN tunnels drop due to a malfunction, CyberGhost will automatically kill your internet connection. This ensures that your data isn’t leaked even in situations of software issues.

The VPN also gives you the authority to decide which app goes through your regular internet connection or use CyberGhost’s VPN tunnel.

Anonymity

People love their privacy a lot, and this is one of the major reasons that contributed to the popularity of VPNs. Like I’m yet to see a person who doesn’t freak out when discovering that people have been spying on them for a while.

CyberGhost VPN has promised its users the best privacy, and the utmost secrecy in their web activities. They no longer need to worry about their web traffic, search preferences, browsing history, and downloads. Your location, IP address, or personal information can’t be accessed without your consent.

And it even gets better, after we reviewed CyberGhost VPN, we discovered that they’re based outside of surveillance alliances. So users don’t need to worry about whether or not the government has their records. And they also have a strict no-logs policy, so they will never store your data or online activities.

They even own the DNS service they use, could you believe that?

Protection

Do you happen to use various devices at the same time? Well, fret not, cause the same account/subscription can be used on 7 different devices at the same time.

And what if you have more than 7? maybe around 8 or 9? well, you could simply install CyberGhost onto your router, which will in turn safeguard the entire network. Though I can’t imagine a person using more than 5 or 6 devices at once.

Netflix

What about Netflix? The users can watch any Netflix version from anywhere on the whole. And not just Netflix, but most

Complete Access

My review CyberGhost VPN after weeks of study proved that it doesn’t censor anything. Like it gives you access to anything and everything you want to access.

Take Netflix for instance, unlike certain VPNs, which mostly grant you access to their US or UK branch movies, CyberGhost grants you access to them all. So you can bypass internet censorship and network blocks, or you can stream any worldwide content like UFC fights, NBA games, etc.

Lightning-Fast Connections

A VPN would be useless if the internet connection isn’t fast, stable and reliable. And with CyberGhost VPN, you do not need to worry. So you play games online, stream videos in full HD, browse and upload files all with no problems, and stress-free. This feature alone makes it one of the best VPNs out there.

24/7 Customer Support

Having a discreet, fast, and reliable VPN, doesn’t make it the best VPN. Well sure, it might make it a good VPN, more reliable than most, but that doesn’t make it the best.

Once in a while, you might have a suggestion or even a complaint. Maybe your app stopped working after an update, or you can’t seem to find or activate a feature. Who do you call? You call customer support.

And for a VPN that’s being used in over 91 countries, you can’t expect the time zone of your users to be the same. And the best way to avoid customers switching to another VPN is through having a functioning customer support service, which functions 24/7.

Well, CyberGhost has functioning customer support, which works whenever they’re called. They can be called up for any issue or question concerning their products. And get this, they can also respond to your calls in your desired language like French, Russian, Spanish, etc.

How does CyberGhost compare with your favorite VPNs?

After studying CyberGhost, I decided to compare NordVPN, and Surfshark VPN, just to know which of these popular VPNs is better.

And NordVPN won overall. It’s faster, offer more security feature, and even better app. Even the support for streaming services is better. And it’s less expensive when compared to CyberGhost.

CyberGhost wins this one. It has more servers which translates to more coverage and faster connections. It’s available in 91 countries though Surfshark mentioned being available in over 100 countries. But considering that they only have around 3200 servers unlike CyberGhost which has 9,294, I’m not quite sure of how true that claim is.

Compatibility with Tor

Yes, CyberGhost works with the Tor Browser. You just have to pick a server to encrypt your internet traffic, open up the Tor Browser, and start surfing. And you can contact their customer service for more information or aid.

Pricing – Is it worth it?

It’s a little bit expensive, with a monthly subscription of $12.99. A 6 monthly subscription at $41.94, is charged at $6.99 per month. And their best offer of 2 years and 2 months at $56.94 charged at $2.19 per month.

The pricing isn’t the cheapest, but it’s also not the costliest. Though that’s my own opinion.

Supporting Operating Systems

Your Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, Smart TV, Firestick, or Gaming Consoles, as long as the device can install third-party software, and connect to the internet, CyberGhost will work on it. So there’s no need to overthink whether or not it’ll be supported by your device.

Pros & Cons

Every VPN has one or two problems or challenges that its users face when using them. It’s just a matter of whether the problem can be ignored.

Con Aspect

Let’s discuss the cons first. The problem I discovered both from my study and review of CyberGhost VPN is location. Yes, the company indeed has 9000+ servers, scattered all over the world, but that doesn’t mean that it’s in every location and every country.

Some countries have about a dozen, some even less than that, which is hardly enough coverage for the whole country. It may serve a city or two but not the whole country. And you’ll also notice that the speed is drastically reduced in those countries.

So my advice to you is, to check if the servers in your country are enough and if there is even a server in your country to start with before you spend your money subscribing to a plan.

Pro Aspect

CyberGhost has a lot of features to offer its users, which I’m sure they’ll find extremely satisfying. You’ve probably seen my review on the cons, and realized that so long as you live in a city or country, and the number of servers available is enough for the whole country, then you can enjoy the VPN and all it has to offer.

Below are some extra features available on the VPN:

SurfShark VPN Review 2022

By: Shushiro

Estimated reading time: 9 minutes

About Surfshark

Surfshark is a VPN service company, which was established in 2018. The main headquarters is located in Lithuania, while Surfshark B.V. (the company developing cybersecurity software) is registered in the Netherlands. It’s popular a VPN most especially amongst Nord users. Fun fact, did you know that Surfshark is the parent company of NordVPN and security? Though they weren’t originally so, they were originally separate companies until they announced in February 2022 about their merging. But they still operate as separate companies, with separate VPN infrastructures.

Features of Surfshark VPN

Below are the features mentioned by Surfshark;

Kill Switch

IP Address

No Log Data

Split Tunneling / Bypasser

Reverse Bypasser

Surfshark Search

Surfshark Alert

Netflix

CleanWeb

Camouflage Mode

Torrenting

VPN Protocol

Low Latency Server (Surfshark’s US is the fastest on its list. The server in New York to be precise, with a download speed of 83.27 Mbps and an upload speed of 65.59 Mbps.)

Kill Switch

The feature disconnects your device from the internet as soon as your VPN protection is switched off. It’s convenient for cases where the software is facing certain issues.

IP Address

This function changes your visible IP address and location. This means that the IP address shown to your internet provider or the websites visited isn’t your actual address and location. This function is convenient because not every site or app can be accessed from certain countries.

No Log Data

According to Surfshark, they don’t save any log of your activities, so you can surf the net or do whatever you’re into without any worry.

Split Tunneling or Bypasser

Surfshark talked about their VPN having a split tunneling function. In other words, you could select specific apps or websites which will be given access to bypass the VPN entirely and connect to your network provider. Meaning that it app or website will not be routed through the VPN connection. This function is really important, such as in cases where your bank needs your real location to make sure it’s you.

Reverse Bypasser

This function allows you to use a device as normal with all your app or website accessing the internet through your network provider. Except for some selected apps or websites which will only access the internet through the VPN tunnel. Other apps will show your real IP address.

Surfshark Search

Surfshark has this function for those who are too paranoid to the point of refusing the use of their device’s default search engine; like google, bing or spotlight. The VPN has a search engine that its users can use in place of their search engines.

Surfshark Alert

This function alerts the users in cases where their data is ever stolen, or sold by hackers. And it would send you real-time alert messages if you’re ever breached in the future.

Netflix

Unlike some VPNs like IPVanish, Surfshark grants you access to not only US Netflix, but to a lot of other countries like; the UK, Canada, India, Australia, Japan, etc. So no need to worry about not being able to watch your favorite shows due to the issue of your location.

Clean Web

According to Surfshark, the works as an adblocker. It  will block ads and malicious links on your browser before your device is harmed.

Camouflage Mode

It makes your connection look normal, to the point that your network provider won’t know that you’re using a VPN.

How does Surfshark compare with your favorite VPNs?

I’ll be using ExpressVPN and CyberGhost VPN as a comparison with Surfshark.

Though Surfshark has servers in 65+ countries, a lot of features, and high-security protocols, ExpressVPN wins this one. ExpressVPN has better speed, security, and accessibility. But Surfshark has an excellent low-cost premium VPN.

When it comes to CyberGhost VPN, it’s no longer a challenge, it dominates its opponent. CyberGhost has about 9279 servers in 91 countries, it has a better speed, and impressive security features and its subscription offers aren’t bad.

Compatibility with Tor

And yes, it can be used together with your TOR browser. You only need to connect to your preferred location using your Surfshark app, and then launch the TOR browser. The browser will receive a request from the VPN’s IP rather than yours.

Pricing – Is it worth it?

When it comes to VPNs, Surfshark has one of the best pricing out there. With a monthly sub of just $2.49 monthly and $29.88 as their yearly sub. I mean come on, you could hardly see an offer that’s as low as this, though this is just for the first year.

It would then be $3.98 monthly and $95.52 (or $77.64 after the first 24 months) after the first 12 months.

Or you could pay $12.95 for the first two months, then $14.44 per month as a monthly subscription, if you don’t VPN that much, or just need it for just a month.

So you tell me is the pricing worth it?

Supporting Operating Systems

The software is available for most devices like Windows, macOS, Android devices, Linux, and iOS. It’s also supported by popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. So most users don’t have to worry about the availability, compatibility, and accessibility of the software.

Pros & Cons

We’ve talked about the app, regions where it’s available or supported, its features, pricing, etc. It’s about time we talked about what its users have to gain or lose by using the app.

Pro Aspect

Surfshark has a lot to offer to the point where some of its cons seem pointless. I’m sure you’ve seen the features of the app right? And those aren’t even all the application has to offer.

For instance, the software has a lot of features that were mentioned above, but other than that, below are other features that its users enjoy.

Override GPS location.

NoBorders.

Invisible to devices.

Auto-connect.

Start with Windows.

Change Protocol.

Change Data Encryption.

Static Servers.

Multi-Hop servers.

Small Packets.

To read more on the above-mentioned features, click here.

Con Aspect

Is it really fast?

The first issue that its user noticed was in the location settings, (like the option where you select the location which is shown to your network provider, or the site you visit).

The software was meant to connect you to the nearest country where their server is installed. It seems normal and logical, right? But what do you think happens when there’s a server in your country? And to make it fun, what do you think if the server is in the same city as you? And what if it is next to you in the same neighborhood?

Won’t that defeat the purpose of hiding your location and giving out a random one? So although the VPN is fast, this option has been a problem for its users. So it’s normally advised for the users to manually select their desired location themselves.

But is it really Cheap?

One of the reasons why Surfshark is loved by many is because, it’s good, stable, and fast, even when compared with other VPNs in the competition. But there’s a reason for it being cheap.

Call it separation, or discrimination, it’s all still the same. And the reason is that, just like every other company out there, Surfshark favor’s the rich more. They separated their core VPN from the extra features and offer which aren’t normally found in other VPNs.

Extra features like Antivirus, Email monitoring, Surfshark alerts, Surfshark Search, and more, are in their premium or Surfshark One package. So you need to pay more in other to enjoy those features, which drastically increases your monthly subscription.

So do you still feel that it’s cheap?

IPVanish VPN Review 2022

By: Shushiro

Estimated reading time: 9 minutes

What is IPVanish?

IPVanish, is a service-based VPN, with an ISP (Internet Service Provider) located in the United States. It’s a popular software, though it’s switched hands a couple of times. The application is available for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and Fire TV. Also, it’s been around for a while now, since 2012, so I’m having a good feeling about this one; though we’ll be seeing about that. But read on and discover if this is the right VPN for you.

Features of IPVanish VPN

The features offered by the VPN is includes;

Split Tunneling – This feature

Netflix  (Though not on all servers, only the US Netflix is accessible)

Torrenting

IP Addresses -(Anonymous Dynamic)

Kill Switch

Lowest Latency Server

VPN Protocol

Log Data

Split Tunneling

This feature is only available in their Android and FireOS device apps, but yes they do grant this feature. But that’s only when you’re using these devices. And for those who don’t know what Split Tunneling is, let me explain. It just means changing the route ISP of some apps instead of through the VPN. And the reason for this is that some sensitive software needs your actual ISP for one reason or the other. It’s more common in government-owned software.

Kill Switch

Yes, it does, and the developers ensure that it would protect your connection when using the internet. But you need to activate it if you’d want to ensure an encrypted connection. So don’t forget to switch yours on.

Supported Devices

Just like most VPN software out there, the IPVanish is supported by most operating systems. So there’s no need for doubt or worry when installing the software since there’s little chance for it not to work.

Does IPVanish VPN log my data?

Well, it’s a US-based company and an internet-based company at that. And we all know that every internet-based company is required by law, to have a log copy of every piece of information that goes through their servers. Well, this law is really enforced in every country, but it is most definitely enforced in the United States. So I’m sure some logs are being kept.

Can I watch my favorite shows on Netflix using IPVanish VPN?

Since it’s a US-based VPN, you won’t have any problem viewing US Netflix, but it won’t unblock many Netflix catalogs. I think they focused more on things that have to do with the country, rather than a collection of sorts. And by collection, I meant connecting the services offered by other countries in order to make their VPN reliable for those living outside the US. But they do give you better access to other streaming apps, like Hulu.

Compatibility with Tor

It does work with Tor, well the web browser to be specific. Tor is a security service provider on its own, but for some reason, doesn’t work when used together with IPVanish.

Pricing – Is it worth it?

The average monthly pricing of VPNs ranges from $9.35 to $20.00, with the yearly pricing ranging from $1.67 to $100.92. While IPVanish has it’s monthly at $10.99, and yearly at $80.99 for the first year though. After which it will be $5.32 per month and $89.99 yearly. Well, the pricing doesn’t seem too high or too low to me, it’s just in between.

How does IPVanish VPN compare with your favorite VPNs?

I’ll be using NordVPN and ExpressVPN as a comparison with IPVanish.

After some research, I found out that in terms of speed, better streaming support, and more security features, ExpressVPN is better. It even offers better apps. ExpressVPN is the clear winner.

IPVanish and NordVPN are almost evenly matched; almost. They both use advanced encryption and modern tunneling protocols, but NordVPN offers better security and privacy. Also, IPVanish doesn’t provide refunds on their monthly plans, but NordVPN does. It has a free 30 days subscription, just to test out the software and see if it’s to your liking.

Pros & Cons

Just as every software has its pro and cons, IPVanish has one as well. It now depends on whether or not the pros out weight the cons, and if you’re comfortable with ignoring the cons.

Pro Aspect

Availability – its availability isn’t bad when compared to other VPNs. According to them (IPVanish), they operate in a network of around 1000 servers in over 60 countries around the world. Though most of the servers, around 443 and 561 servers are based in Europe and North America. This leaves the rest of the world, like Asia and Africa a little bit of coverage to go by.

So unless you’re living over there (Europe and North America), I’d advise you to rethink using IPVanish.

Infrastructure – According to IPVanish, they own and operate their own network. They said that they don’t feel comfortable as a ‘True Top Tier VPN service provider’, leaving their security in someone else’s control. Though I don’t know how much of this is really true.

Used on any device – The VPN, could be used on any device, and this is a great thing for those who make use of various devices.

Security – The IPVanish has great security, I mean like that’s the whole point of VPN right? Remaining anonymous to the various internet servers you pass through.

Logs Policy – IPVanish mentioned that they do not keep the log file of their users. Though not too sure about that.

Speed – Speed kills, but not in this case. I believe a lot of us would love to be killed due to speed when surfing the internet, especially when streaming. Well fear not, the IPVanish is fast enough to stream 8k videos.

Good Pricing – The price range is okay.

Con Aspect

Optimized Servers – The VPN client system lacks optimized servers, in order words, get what you get from the system. What I meant is you don’t get the option of optimizing the client system to suit your use, rather the system does it for you. And we know that in most cases, a system doesn’t really know you as much as you do for yourself.

Privacy – The IPVanish is based in the United States. You should know what I mean by specifying this. So don’t place much hope in it sticking to its privacy policies.

Logging Complaint – Earlier in 2018, an article in TorrentFreak accused IPVanish of the use of its log authorities. A case where the log activities of certain individuals were given to the US Department of Homeland Security. Well, they are based in the United States… So…

Server Location – Some individuals have complained about the server location being shown to them to be a bit unusual.

Customer Support – Customer support rarely, if at all works. Several complaints have dropped that their so-called customer support isn’t working. At times, the lines don’t even go through.

Supporting Operating Systems

Windows: Windows 7 to the latest version (for as long as Microsoft still supports the OS)

Mac: 10.6.8 x64 to the latest version

iOS: 5.1.1 (iPod Touch 3g / iPad 1), 6.1.3 (iPhone 3&4 / iPod Touch 4&5g / All other iPads), 6.1.4 (iPhone 5)

Android: 4.0.3 (ICS) up to the latest stable non-alpha/beta version

Linux: Debian or RedHat-based distros – best effort

Router Firmware: DD-WRT v2 and v3, Tomato, Asus-WRT, Merlin
