His and Hers trailer: Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal join forces for murder mystery

Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson in

Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal have dazzled audiences in big-budget MCU titles like Thor: Ragnarok and Punisher, as well as earned critical acclaim for their turns in projects like Hedda and The Bear. Now, the pair unite for a Netflix limited crime series His & Hers.

Based on the novel by Alice Feeney, the series stars Thompson as reclusive news anchor Anna Andrews and Bernthal as small-town detective Jack Harper. When a brutal murder rocks their small hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, the pair find themselves drawn to the case from different sides. Oh, and one more thing: They're married.

Anna and Jack's marriage is a complicated one. The pair are estranged, and tension simmers between them in every scene they share in His & Hers' first trailer. Anna is coming at the case from a journalistic angle, hoping to catch the killer and spin a compelling news story. Her investigations cause trouble for Jack, and the couple soon begins to suspect one another of being involved in this heinous crime. They both claim not to be involved in the trailer, but that's just what a killer would say, right?

So whose side of the story will prove to be right in His & Hers? Check out the full trailer above to choose your allegiance.

His & Hers also stars Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Marin Ireland, and Poppy Liu.

His & Hers premieres Jan. 8 on Netflix.

The 34-inch LG UltraGear curved gaming monitor is cheaper than it was on Black Friday

LG UltraGear curved gaming monitor with colorful display and abstract orange and purple background

SAVE $143: As of Dec. 11, the LG 34-inch UltraGear WQHD curved gaming monitor is on sale for $356.99. That's 29% or $143 off its list price β€” the lowest price on record at Amazon.

Even if you missed the impressive discounts on gaming monitors on Black Friday, you can still score a great deal before the holidays.

As of Dec. 11, the LG 34-inch UltraGear WQHD curved gaming monitor is down to just $356.99 β€”Β nearly 30% off its list price of $499.99. That's its lowest price on record at Amazon and $3 cheaper than it was on Black Friday.

The ultra-wide curved display of the LG UltraGear WQHD takes you from just playing games to being submerged in them. The 34-inch display features a steep 1500R curvature and a 21:9 aspect ratio, so the screen will essentially wrap the action around you as you play. If you've never had a curved monitor before, it does take a bit of getting used to. But everyone from gamers to artists to multitaskers can benefit from the beauty of a wrap-around monitor. They do take up a bit more desk real estate than a typical monitor, so be sure you have to space available before you snag one.

As far as gaming specs go, it offers a 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time (which could certainly be speedier), and AMD FreeSync Premium compatibility. It also features Dynamic Action Sync, an FPS counter, a black stabilizer, and plenty of ports for your peripherals. It's not the most premium gaming monitor on the market, but it'll suit most casual gamers just fine. It also does pretty well as a regular monitor for work and everyday scrolling and streaming. A premium OLED monitor can cost you over $1,000, so the LG 34-inch UltraGear WQHD is quite the steal at $356.99.

The holidays are here, and if you're looking for a great pair of headphones either for yourself or to gift someone else, you've got tons of options. But if you want some of the best of the best, you won't want to pass up this Amazon find, as we've tracked down a rare deal on one of our favorites: Mashable Choice award-winning headphones that represent some of the best of what Sony has to offer.

As of Dec. 11, get the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones for $398, down from their usual price of $459.99. That's $61.99 off and a discount of 13%. It's also the lowest price we've seen.

These noise-cancelling headphones are one of our favorite pairs, with immersive listening developed by mastering audio engineers. They come with a special driver housed in a carbon fiber dome to deliver fantastic sound. Their HD noise cancelling processor is also 7x as fast as the QN1 model from Sony as well, with 12 microphonoes that work in real time to give you better noise cancellation, sound quality, and clearer calls.

Mashable Tech Editor Timothy Beck Werth praised these headphones for having "close" to the best sound he's ever heard, and that their "elite noise cancellation, comfortable fit, and travel-friendly design" do justify their usually high price tag.

"They're not an instant upgrade if you already own the XM5 headphones," he wrote. "But if you have an older pair, want LDAC support, or just like the Sony product ecosystem, they're a worthy purchase, no doubt." Grab them while they're still on sale to get them for the lowest price we've found to date.

Kim Kardashian is coming to Fortnite. How to get the limited-time skin.

kim kardashian as a fornite skin

In a move that, well, certainly feels unexpected, you can now play Fortnite as Kim Kardashian. The game announced limited-edition skins of the reality star. They also released an emote harkening back to that famous "break the internet" cover of Paper magazine from 2014.

Here's a video from the game announcing the skins.

Kardashian herself posted about it on X.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

The game is hosting the Kim Kardashian Cup on Dec. 12 with winners earning early access to the skins (for free). Otherwise, you'll have to pony up 1,500 V-Bucks.

To be fair, Kardashian is far from the only celeb to have Fortnite skin β€”Β it's a pretty regular occurrence. Still, it's only a matter of time before we see clips of Kim Kardashian in Fortnite, which is certainly quite the sentence.

Netflix and Paramounts bidding war over Warner Bros, explained

A collage shows WB as an octopus on the foreground (in the middle) with two sharks on each of its sides (one representing Netflix and one - Paramount). Hollywood hill is seen on the background.

On Friday, December 5, Netflix announced that it would be acquiring Warner Bros. in a deal worth $82.7 billion. That made them the winners of a bidding war that kicked off in September, when Paramount just out of nowhere went, "hey, Warner Bros., mind if I buy you?" But Paramount's not quitting just yet. On Monday, December 8, Paramount launched its own hostile takeover bid of Warner Bros. with an offer worth $108.4 billion.Β

What is going on? Why is everyone going after Warner Bros.? And how is this going to impact TV and film going forward? Let's break it down.

The newest streaming stick in the Fire TV lineup and also the most affordable 4K option, the 4K Select offers vibrant 4K quality with HDR10+ support and an ultra-responsive and fast new operating system called Vega. We haven't tested it yet ourselves, but we weren't thrilled with the old operating system, so we're totally on board with the upgrade. The plug-and-play design mirrors all other Fire TV Sticks and it will instantly put all of your favorite apps in one place β€”Β with Prime Video at the forefront, of course. It offers support for Xbox Game Pass, Amazon Luna, NordVPN, and IPVanish, and Alexa+ and Amazon Kids+ are also coming soon.

It doesn't offer Dolby Atmos or Vision and it can't turn your TV into an art TV like the 4K Max, but for everyday streaming, it's a pretty hard deal to beat for 10 bucks.

The DJI Power 2000 portable power station is down to its lowest-ever price β€” almost half off

the DJI power 2000 on a pink and purple background

SAVE $600: The DJI Power 2000 is on sale at Amazon for $699, down from the list price of $1,299. That's a 46% discount that matches the lowest we've ever seen at Amazon.

We're in the thick of unstable weather these days. Our social media and news feeds are filled with weather warnings of atmospheric rivers, wind advisories, and cold snaps. That means power outages are plentiful. If you're not interested in dealing with the inconvenience that entails, a portable power station could be the best solution, and there's a major sale in store today.

As of Dec. 11, the DJI Power 2000 is on sale for $699 at Amazon, marked down from the usual price of $1,299. That works out to a savings of $600 from a 46% discount. It also matches the lowest we've ever seen at Amazon.

DJI is a favorite brand among content creators, making a phenomenal lineup of drones, cameras, and mics. But it's worth paying attention to the DJI power station lineup, too. In my testing of portable power stations, the DJI Power 2000 is the perfect model for creators.

Thanks to the dual SDC ports, drone owners can utilize DJI's fast charging. Other port options include two 140W USB-C, two 65W USB-C, four 24W USB-A, three AC, and even a 30amp.

In real-life situations, the DJI Power 2000's 2,048Wh can keep a WiFi router powered on for over 150 hours or a refrigerator for about 40 hours. Both of those will sure come in handy during the next power cut. Of course, you'll also be able to keep phones charged up.

Keep in mind, DJI is facing issues with getting products into the U.S., and it's nearly impossible to purchase directly from DJI right now. Instead, this Amazon deal is sold by a third-party seller. Mashable generally advises against buying from these sellers on Amazon, but DJI products have proven to be an exception since third-party is often the only way to snag a DJI product right now (and this one has positive ratings). Due to the nature of shipping portable power stations, the DJI Power 2000 is listed as non-returnable at Amazon, which is something to keep in mind before buying.

If this doesn't sound appealing, consider the DJI Power 1000, which is currently on sale for $349 or 50% off its normal price of $699. This sale price on Amazon is offered directly by DJI. You'll be halving the power offered from the DJI Power 2000, but it's also half the price.

In either case, DJI makes solid portable power stations. If you're looking for better protection during the next storm, the DJI Power 2000 is down to the record-low price of $699 today.

The Daily Show slams Trumps treatment of women journalists

Desi Lydic presents

The Daily Show's Desi Lydic took aim at Donald Trump's treatment of female reporters, calling out the president's repeated misogynist insults on Wednesday night's show.

Trump has a long history of verbally attacking women journalists, but recently the president has made more than one recent headline with his offensive, childish, and degrading comments β€” despite the White House insisting "this has nothing to do with gender."

On The Daily Show, Lydic showed a montage of Trump's comments, before responding:

"Mr. Trump, just a quick follow up. What the f*** is your problem?"

"God, this guy is exhausting. It's like he won't stop until he gives every woman in the country resting Melania face. Can you just try being nice to a woman just once?"

Seth Meyers takes A Closer Look at Trumps U.S. economy and its not A+++++

Seth Meyers presents

Seth Meyers used his "A Closer Look" segment on Late Night to examine the current state of the U.S. economy, and it's not the A+++++ President Donald Trump awarded himself with.

"As I'm sure you guys know, the economy is awesome," said Meyers. "The other day, I went to the grocery store and bought some coffee, some bananas, some ground beef, and, long story short, I have to keep doing this show until 2038."

The late night host took a deep dive into historic levels of job loss and rising consumer prices for basic necessities for Americans, including the increase in energy prices.

"Costs on everything from food to electricity are soaring while employers are shedding jobs," said Meyers. "This is when a president needs to show empathy, demonstrate that he understands the plight of hard working Americans and oh no, as I'm saying this, I'm remembering who I'm talking about and realising there's no f***ing way he's going to do that."

Meyers threw to Trump's recent interview with POLITICO's Dasha Burns, in which the president awarded his economy an "A-plus-plus-plus-plus-plus" grade.

"Now, of course, it won't surprise you to learn that Trump's assessment of the economy is very much at odds with how pretty much everyone else feels about it," said Meyers, and he's right. Americans are deeply concerned with the current state of the U.S. economy. According to a Fox News poll, 76 percent of voters view the economy negatively, with voters blaming Trump; the New York Times reports 38 percent of voters approve of how the president is handling the economy while 61 percent disapprove.

"So it's less of an A-plus-plus-plus-plus and more of an F-minus-minus-minus-minus-minus," said Meyers.

Wrapping up, Meyers concluded, "Trump is running up against the same problem Biden had. You can't convince people the economy is good when they can see the truth with their own eyes, every time they buy groceries or pay their heating bills."

Michelle Pfeiffer and Oh. What. Fun. cast play Does It Ring Christmas?

Michelle Pfeiffer, Denis Leary, and Felicity Jones at the 'Oh. What. Fun.' junket.

'Tis the season to deck the halls, don our gay apparel, and argue with family about what actually qualifies as a Christmas movie. Who better to settle these debates than the cast of Oh. What. Fun., the now-streaming comedy about a family whose festive fumblings lead to a barrage of holiday hijinks.

Michelle Pfeiffer, Denis Leary, ChloΓ« Grace Moretz, Felicity Jones, and Dominic Sessa play a family in the Michael Showalter-helmed film. But with Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko, they played "Does It Ring Christmas?" β€”Β a game where, if a movie title rings true to Christmas to you, you ring a jingle bell.

Die Hard is just the tip of the iceberg. Mashable asked about a string of movies that internet users have proclaimed a "Christmas movie." We're talking Eyes Wide Shut, Gremlins, Trading Places, Lethal Weapon, and Batman Returns, which also famously stars Pfeiffer as an anti-heroine who has had enough.

The Oh. What. Fun. cast also weighed in on the holiday classics they gravitate toward each yuletide, giving answers like The Family Stone, It's a Wonderful Life, Home Alone, Elf, and Bad Santa.

Yet asked what Christmas movie is best paired with Oh. What. Fun., there was one clear answer. Watch the video above to the end to find out!

Oh. What. Fun. is now streaming on Prime Video.

Stephen Colbert ridicules Trumps advice that Americans should give up pencils to save money

Stephen Colbert presents

Americans are deeply concerned with the current state of the U.S. economy. According to a recent Fox News poll, 76 percent of voters view the economy negatively, with voters blaming President Donald Trump; the New York Times reports 38 percent of voters approve of how Trump is handling the economy while 61 percent disapprove.

So if you've been struggling, frustrated, and worried about rising prices of late, the president has some "sound advice," as Stephen Colbert pointed out during his Late Show monologue on Wednesday night. During a Pennsylvania rally on Wednesday, Trump told Americans they should "give up certain products."

"You can give up pencils," the president said. "That's under the China policy, you know, every child can get 37 pencils, they only need one or two, you know, they don't need that many."

"How much does he think pencils cost?" asked Colbert on The Late Show. "Our fact-checkers checked, a pack of pencils is $4.36 on Amazon. So saving money on pencils may not be the stupidest thing he's ever said, but I'm gonna say it's number two."

Lily Allen teasing West End Girl as a play is almost too much

Lilly Allen is interviewed on

Lily Allen possibly turning West End Girl into a West End play? MAKE IT SO.

The artist joined Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show to unpack writing the most talked-about album of the year, in which Allen airs more than dirty laundry on her tempestuous open relationship with Stranger Things star David Harbour.

When Fallon mentions the album's runaway success has lead to the potential development of a play in London, Allen doesn't give much away but says, "That's true."

"Are you involved with that?" asks the host.

"I might be," says Allen. "The ink is not dry, but I'm definitely having some conversations with people, it's very exciting."

The idea of turning West End Girl track "Pussy Palace" into a stage number is all I need to get through the day, to be honest, but remembering the lyrics to "West End Girl" and a certain someone's reaction to Allen's previous West End success might get me through the whole year.

Taylor Swift talks to Stephen Colbert about The Late Show and the end of an era

Taylor Show is interviewed by Stephen Colbert on

Taylor Swift spoke to Stephen Colbert about how to deal with the end of an era on The Late Show on Thursday, with the host's beloved show set to end in May 2026 after its controversial cancellation.

Specifically, Colbert asked the artist, who wrapped up her two-year, $2 billion-grossing Eras Tour almost one year ago, for tips on how to deal with finishing something so monumental. In December, Swift is set to release a Disney+ docuseries and extended concert film of the Eras Tour.

"I need a little advice," said Colbert. "I've been hosting a late night show for 21 years. I've got six months left here, approximately. Any advice on what to do? Because you have to come down from a two-year tour like that. I'm sure there's a little bit of a transition to do. Any advice?"

"I mean, for this specific situation, no, but I can sort of see from afar, right?" replied Swift. "I think that I can speak for both of us to say that we're both very passionate, hyperactive people. I like the grind, yes. So it's like, let's not say workaholic, let's just say we're passionate, hyperactive people."

"We're workpportunists," said Colbert.

"We like it, right? And so I think that when I take time off, it's always just like, I can't slow down the fact that I need to get up and do a lot of things today, but I can change what those things are. I can figure out how to chill out, but I'm never going to be a chill person," said Swift.

"So you're going to chill out with intention and very hard," said the Late Show host.

"So what you could do is I became like, 'I'm bread girl now.' Or I'm like, 'Oh, you know, this isn't gonna cross stitch itself.' Do you know what I mean? Hobbies are kind of incredible," Swift said. "You love to do a million things to prepare for this, and you give everything to the people that watch your show and you can give that to your friends and family, your community."

"But my friends and family don't chant my name, Taylor."

Taylor Swifts mystery novel idea for Stephen Colbert post-Late Show is wild

Taylor Swift is interviewed on

Taylor Swift joined Stephen Colbert on The Late Show on Wednesday, and they not only talked about how to deal with the end of an era, they planned a mystery novel?

After asking the artist to list her five favourite Taylor Swift songs (a tough ask, but "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" is in there), Colbert and Swift then speak about what the host will do after his show ends in May next year, after its controversial cancellation. According to Swift, Colbert will get into podcasting, TikTok, and being an influencer, then make a pivot into a career in literature.

"I feel like you're gonna write a really amazing mystery thriller, where there's like, a house and it's covered in ivy, right?" said Swift, referring to her requirements for a perfect read.

"Maybe off the coast of Maine?" responded Colbert, who begins madly writing down plot details Swift begins to spin.

"There's a mistress there, but actually, she's related to them. And so it's really bad, but it's an amazing book. But it's grim right?" says Swift. "And then somebody falls off a cliff. Oh no, it was a ghost! And then it turns out that they don't actually own the island, right? They don't actually own it because their father is actually his twin brother, and the father died in a mysterious drowning incident."

"Done," says Colbert. "If it sells, I'll give you half the royalties."
