We’ve had a wild time since getting Jolene. We got serenaded, we’ve shown her to dozens of people, and she’s been smoking meat non-stop. As has our pitmaster.
Yesterday, we got absolutely crushed, sold out of everything, survived the chaos while short-staffed, and managed to get in some laughs.
Unfortunately, we’ve got some staff out sick again today and only one Chef in the kitchen. Therefore, we are going to open a few hours late.
We know you hate it when our hours are inconsistent and we hate to open late, but we want to make sure we’ve got plenty of options for our patrons.
It’s a very important day! The countdown to Jolene has ended and we are picking up our big beauty today to bring her home and smoke all that brisket! Bumblebee has been our solid and true girl from our catering days, but she’s tired and ready to hand over the reins to the new beast.
Because we are picking up our smoker from Humphry’s BBQ in Maine, we will not be open to sell food today. While we hate to disappoint our customers, this means we get to open for lunch starting next week and we love exciting our customers with good news!
In the meantime, have you heard of our meat subscriptions? Three pounds of meat once a week or one full brisket or pork once a month. Perfect for birthdays and Dad’s days. Contact us at info@code1bbq.com to find out more.
Our online ordering system is currently down and with a lot of time and hope on Erica’s part and, she’ll have it up and running next week.
Thank you #code1bbqwarriors for your patience as we build this business and make it the only BBQ on your radar.
Call us for Superbowl!!!
We aren’t open on Sundays, but we are catering superbowl on February 12. Give us a call to reserve your spot. 978-248-8185 Please leave a message or email info@code1bbq.com
This week we are trying to catch the dinner crowd so we are opening a little later. We will stay open until we sell out. I’ll update our voice mail as well, so check there to see if we are still open. 978-248-8185.
Our online ordering system is not yet up and running. And while we are operating with our smaller smoker we will wait to open up online ordering.
In the meantime, to order in advance please give us a call.
We are still, and as always, taking catering orders for all your 2023 events! email events@code1bbq.com to talk with us about your party. Private, corporate, lunches, dinners, indoors, outdoors, pickup, drop off, and full-service catering available!
Join us January 3rd at 11 AM for our grand opening and ribbon cutting. On the menu for the day will be Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken Halves, Mac and Cheese, Baked Beans, Garlic Smashed Potato, Corn on the Cob and cornbread. Get dinners, sandwiches and bowls!
Let’s face it. BBQ meat is great, but it wouldn’t be BBQ without the sides. Am I right? Sean might have the meat perfected, but Erica’s got some hometown favorites to contend with. It’s always a competition in the Marchant household to choose the best flavor profiles and tastes.
We want to know what your favorite BBQ side of all time. Do you just love Mac and cheese, or are you all about the beans? Do you want something healthier (it’s okay, Erica likes the healthier sides too), or are you all in for that cornbread?
Whether you’ve tried Code 1 BBQ yet or not, Tell us what your favorite BBQ sides are.

It’s been a bit since I’ve been able to get in here and update everyone. I definitely heard and read that running a kickstarter takes a lot of time and yup are they right! It takes a lot of heart and grit and disappointment too.
We knew going in that what we were asking for was a reach. And with 9 days left we are no where near our goal. But it doesn’t mean that this hasn’t been successful. As our first kickstarter, we expected a learning curve and lots of bumps in the road. We got some great support from all of you and so many others. We had around 125 people at our local open house and raised some funds to help support us. We have some new ideas, lots of new customers, and our brand is getting recognized everywhere we go now.
That’s amazing! And it’s all thanks to community support, engagement, encouragement, and well…buying our food!
The kickstarter isn’t over yet. This is an all or nothing campaign. Which means if we don’t reach our goal we won’t get anything from any one. But the fact that you all supported us right from the start means more than any amount of money every could.
Yes the money will help us move forward faster, but we aren’t going anywhere. We are still growing and we will reach our goals along the way.
We will have a good truck with a trailer and we will have a brick and mortar place of our own one day.
Whether we reach this kickstarter or not, we are determined and ready to establish Code 1 BBQ in our communities.
Thank you to our Kickstarter backers! 20 People have signed on to support us with 20 Days left. Check out your name on our virtual wall. We appreciate every bit and can’t wait to fulfill your rewards.

Thank you for being a part of our journey to build a future local gem.
With all your help we will purchase a larger Double Wide and a box truck to travel to event sites. We’ll also have pop ups in town and other locations. Check out this amazing smoker from Humphry’s Smokers in Maine.
Curious about our cookbook, A Seat at Our Table. It’s one reward available in our Kickstarter campaign.
What recipes will you find in A Seat at Our Kitchen Table?
What you won’t find:
As much as everyone wants to know all our secrets to our Code 1 recipes, we admit you won’t find those here.
What you will find:
Tips and recipes for everyday cooking, smoking meat, cooking over the open fire and in your kitchen, and meals everyone in the family will enjoy when no one eats the same thing.
With these pages, you’ll get a seat at our dinner table where we cook from the heart. It’s eclectic and unique. We’ve honed our recipes over years of practice, failures, terrible tastings, and finally getting them right.
Everything’s made from scratch yet simple with easy to find ingredients. Lots of substitutes for just about anything. From making dishes vegan and allergy friendly to making them full of gluten and dairy and meat! From using fresh ingredients and prepping yourself to buying the stuff already prepped, because who has time for that?
You’ll learn how to slow smoke a brisket and pork butt and why it’s important to let them rest. You’ll learn how to cook over the open fire in your backyard (or over your charcoal grill).
You’ll get back to nature by using simple wholesome ingredients that leave your food tasting amazing–You won’t miss out on all the fancy stuff no one has in their cabinets anyway–and learn what and how to prep in advance. There’s an inventory list for pantry and shelf stable items that are necessary for any home cook and a storage time table so you know when things go bad.
This all in one place and so much more…
Recipes include:
·
Taco Tuesday’s with easy homemade refried beans and all the gut friendly fixings to go with it. No more buying pre-made packages for tacos. Side note: we hardly ever eat tacos on Tuesdays!
Salad Bar Sunday is a great late lunch early dinner that satisfies everyone. One of my besties, Kelli Webber, gave me this idea and it’s been a family hit ever since. Even with the littles who hate salad and veggies.
Sean’s amazing grilling skills in time for the end of summer and fall festivities.
Grinding your own meat for burgers.
Shrimp, Salmon, and other seafood dishes.
A dairy free, gluten friendly, Thanksgiving dinner everyone you know will love with homemade cranberry sauce.
Root vegetables, potatoes, sides and more.
What’s better than just a cookbook?
A virtual live demonstration from Pit Master Sean and a cookbook. Watch how he butchers, seasons, and slow cooks on Bumblebee, our custom-made Humphrey’s cabinet smoker.

Thank you for all your support and encouragement. We’ve said it a dozen times, but it always bears repeating we appreciate you!!! Code 1 BBQ would not be a successful family-owned business without our customers and supporters.
Don’t forget our tasting event is Sunday July 10th from 1-5PM. Please register here so we know how much food to bring.
I didn’t have a chance to update anyone all weekend. We spent the entire time in the kitchen doing the job of half a restaurant staff alone. It was our biggest weekend yet.
Then I logged into my office role and learned how well we did last month. And it’ll only get better.
We are getting amazing reviews and our company revenue grew by 300%
We only see it growing more.
With your help we can hire some staff and get a box truck to help us get around and deliver food. With our own imaginations and hard work we’ll turn the box truck into a food truck we can bring to events.
We also need a bigger smoker. In fact, we’re working on getting this one with the kickstarter campaign from Humphrey’s Smokers. They are a family owned business based out of Maine. All their smokers are hand-made with American Steel.
A Humphrey’s Smoker Double Wide with two doors.
We are going strong and with a beast like this we won’t have to turn away orders. We are looking forward to the event on Sunday July 10th. Don’t forget to register here and give us an idea of how much food to cook. We’ll be at the farmers market on July 17th in Wilmington Ma. Come see us there too.
Thank you for being a part of our journey to build a future local gem.
With all your help we will purchase some equipment to enhance our menu offerings and allow us to serve a greater number of customers. This includes a new custom made smoker from Humphry’s Smokers in Maine, a meat grinder and other attachments for our mixer in the community kitchen, and editing and publishing the cookbook for our rewards. We’ll also invest in a truck to turn into the Code 1 BBQ Food truck!
Thank you to our first Kickstarter backers! Check out your name on our virtual wall. You’ve made us 1% funded on day one. We appreciate every bit!

Day 1 down, 29 to go! We’ve got the next few days off to prepare for our busy weekend and our July 10th open house.
Did you know? If you wanted to help fund our Kickstarter but the rewards are out of your reach, you can do so without getting a reward. Every $1.00 will help us reach our goal to open full time in our community and beyond. When we are funded, we’ll purchase a larger smoker from Humphrey’s Smokers, a truck that we’ll turn into a food truck, and if there are any left over funds, hire some part time help.
Thank you for being a part of our journey to build a future local gem.
